AAE List, thoughts please. Autothrusters included

By R22, in X-Wing

Just looking for some zippy fun. My area doesn't use large ships very often so the turret issue isn't so big a deal. I love the manuverability of the A-wing and the feeling of doing 3 moves a turn with each ship, I feel like it really reflects their flavor. I threw in Corran so that his double tap quasi adds a 4th ship feel to the list. Thoughts welcome!

Bumble hump?

It looks solid, I suppose. You're banking that your greater mobility will fit you into holes in your opponents' firing arcs more often than not. You've a fair chance of that, but swarms will give you trouble.

And, of course, Turrets, but the Autothrusters will help with that problem :D

It sounds ok, but you only have a total of 13 hit points(7 shields 6 hull) and will alternate between 4 and 10 shots per turn(assuming you use Corran every turn. If you do not roll well, offensively or defensively, it will be a bad game for you.

Thanks for the comments guys.

My group naturally favors games that emphasize the dogfight component which means we tend to shy away from not only turret ships but large ships. It's just most fun for us that way. My regular opponent tends to run Squints and a Vader loaded for bear. But with the advent of Defenders and Phantoms he's beginning to toy with a PDD list so I'm having to be especially squirrely.

... squirrelie?

I certainly like your list but apparently the A-wing is so bad in the current meta that it's supposedly not worth using at any time. Just give those guys an appropriate offensive gesture and have fun instead m'kay? :)

Mate, speaking as an A-wing fan who is planning on taking one to an upcoming tournament: give it a rest already. The ship has its problems. Accept it and you will live a happier life.

Anyway, onto the build: as others have said, offence may be a bit of a problem. It will also be relatively easy for the enemy to focus down Corran first, as he'll actually be the slowest ship and is the source of most of your firepower. Once he goes the A-wings are relatively non-threatening. Ideally I'd like to get Proton Rockets on both A-wings, but the only way to get the points would be to drop Corran for something cheaper.

I'm not against dropping Corran but a cheaper ship seems to double sink because, sure, you get more room to build, but you also get as ship less powerful. A low end B-wing would be heavy but necessarily a low PS. At least Corran has a good PS and an ability that lets him attack twice at times. The E-wing is stronger than a Rookie X-wing or 2 Z-95s with similar low firepower. I'd love prockets too but I see it hurting the rest of the list. Unless you think the prockets would, with the A-wings maneuvering, be potent enough to land quick kills.

As for the A-wing debate, I love A-wings and am playing for fun with friends. Don't mind losing so long as it isn't a blow out. That being said, I'd love a rear firing arc much as many others. I do with it was just a little more offensive but still love it. I enjoy the feeling of putting my ship at the end of the template and suddenly getting to move it two more times. Suckers!

In the old XvT game I used to drop all shields into engines like a TIE fighter on crack and just zip around.
