How soon do you think we will get a new Tournament Rules pdf that deals with the debris fields in tournament play?

The current rules make no mention of debris fields. They are only mentioned in the materials provided by the expansions that come with debris fields.
I'm hoping that they wait until at least Wave 6 until permitting debris fields in tournaments but would prefer if they didn't.
Agreed WWHSD. I'd be alright with a wait as well. I just wonder how they will be added into tourney play. Do we use either the 6 asteroids or the 6 debris fields. Do we bring 3 of each and decide which players set is used for the game....
Probably in December, shortly before Store Championships start up.
I would love for there to be a way to create tournaments that _weren't_ 100 point death matches. Letting debris fields into the game helps create that. But there has to be a way to make other objectives happen as well.
I'm a fan of having 6 asteroids and 6 debris fields available. Players get to pick which one they want to place, and you keep going until 6 obstacles total have been placed. It allows for a little more variety and strategy in the obstacle-placing phase.
I kind of wish (as I've heard from a few other players) that debris fields dropped when a ship blew up. That, would be awesome.

This sound like fun, until you have 2 TIE swarms face each other. You'll have your 6 initial obstacles, then your would easily be adding up to 15 more obstacles on the map, which would be a bit hectic for a 3x3 map

Somethin like: "After a Large ship or a ship with 1 or more face-up damage cards is destroyed, that player's opponent may place a Debris field template into play in base contact of the destroyed ship. No more than 3 templates may be placed this way during one match. A Debris Field template may not be placed within Range 1 of another obstacle."
I Have had an idea of a terrain generator using the attack and defense dice. The attack dice choose the number of obstacles per player while the defense dice choose which type of obstacle. If you run out of one obstacle then you can pull from the other obstacle pool.
Attack dice results
blank = empty space (1 asteroid and 1 debris cloud per player for competitive format)
focus = 2 obstacles per player
hit = 3 obstacles per player (standard)
critical hit = 4 obstacles per player
Defense dice result
blank = debris clouds first
focus = either pool
evade = asteroids first.
So here is a scenario, the results were crit for attack and blank for defense that will be 4 using the wave 5 debris cloud first.
Since there is only 6 total (3 from each pack in wave 5) the debris cloud pool runs out first. When it comes time for each player to place their fourth obstacle they will pull from the asteroid pool as their 4th obstacle.
Here are the obstacle pools
- Asteroid pool
1 large asteroid and 5 small asteroids
- Debris Cloud pool
6 debris cloud tokens (may use the satellite tokens from the core set as debris clouds if there is not enough debris cloud tokens for those who only bought 1 wave 5 pack or only have the core set. Use as many debris clouds as you have then add satellite token until the pool reaches 6 obstacles).
