He starts with an 'L' and ends with an 'orrir'

I know there has been thread after thread of Autothrusters topics, but I would be remiss if I did not shout out this one thing to the world:

Welcome back, Lieutenant Lorrir!!!

That is all. Thank you.

Glad I mentioned him :)

Maybe I'm just being utterly dense, but why does this help Lorrir? Does it help him anymore than other squint pilots?

Lorrir is the master of arc-dodging, as he can stress himself to barrel-roll with the bank-template.

The fact that he doesn't have an EPT slot for Outmaneuver means this is the first upgrade that actively synergizes with his ability.

Thus making him a viable threat, instead of a novelty.

Of course, at skill-5, he really doesn't have the pilot skill to really figure out the smart place to MOVE with his unique barrel roll. He definitely needs to be flying alongside a skill-9 running 'squad leader' to properly reposition himself.

This will make Tie Interceptors more viable in the meta now.

Still no love for the Tie Advanced. :(

it's coming.. be patient

Nope. Lorrir still sucks.

love the arc dodge, but really hate having to roll naked dice and auto-thrusters don't really fix that (i.e, the lack of EPT and action + stress to use his gimmick)

Not sure if Lorrir is any more or less viable than he already was

Unfortunately, autothrusters does not really synergize well with Lorrir, unless you're fighting turrets, in which case they likely aren't trying to face you anyway. Otherwise, if you're outside of their arc, then they can't shoot you, so the autothruster never gets triggered.

What Lorrir really needs to see use, is an EPT.

I think Lt. Lorrir may still continue his shore-leave with his buddies Kir Kanos, Tetran Cowall and Fel's Wrath. Oh, and don't let the Avenger pilots bully you while you're there.

Actually, Kir Kanos probably gets boosted nicely with this. He already wants to loiter around at Range 3, being a nuisance with his Evade token. Even so, Autothrusters are not the fix for any of the already unused Interceptor pilots. It just makes the good ones better.

I'm a Lorrir fan, but I have to agree. The moment I saw the upgrade I immediately thought of Kir, and thought what a shame it didn't have the same kind of synergy for Lorrir. Kir is definitely going to be a PITA. But as for my obliquely barrel rolling friend, the good lieutenant is going to have to continue getting his lunch money taken by that roving gang of Avenger pilots in the hangar concourse.

This doesnt make him or Kir any more useful thn they already are.

Lorrir with Autothrusters still fails to hit anything.

Aaaaahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa...

L'Oreal, because he's worth it

Nope. Lorrir still sucks.

I should elaborate. I had him in this nice squad that was kicking butt until people started picking up Han Solo + Luke again. In this case, Lorrir often got killed on the way into combat (range 3 sometimes). Autothrusters will help him get at least another shot off. Alternatively, his buddies can tackle Han while Lorrir stays out of the way of the freighter to tangle with the escort fighters.

But to be completely honest, I knew before posting this that Lorrir still isn't as competitive as others. He just happens to be my favorite TIE interceptor pilot, and I love having a new 2-point toy I can put on him. Actually, combining Lorrir + Targeting Computer + Royal Guard TIE + Autothrusters will help to boost his offense and defense. At 27 points I start to balk at his usefulness. One of his advantages in my opinion is that he is below the 25 point mark, allowing me to upgrade other ships. I'll have to play around with options to see how I like these upgrades.

Oh, and Fleet Officer will likely be a greater boon to Lt. Lorrir and his hangar buddies than any modification card will be.

Lorrir and Kanos benefit from Fleet Officer more than Autothrusters.

Tetran's buff is Stay on Target.

Kanos benefits because he wants to stay at range anyway.

Jax benefits because the longer he lives the longer he annoys the crap out of people. Also it's even more difficult to stickdamage on him combined with his ability now.

Turr Phennir benefits because he has an easy time arc-dodging.

Fel... Well i'm not even gonna start how great this upgrade is for him! He was awesome and now he will be reliably awesome!

Lorrir and Fel's Wrath stay mediocre. The fact that he stresses himself to arc dodge is somewhat counterproductive. AT will not be bad on him at all, just the others benefit just as much and were better to start with!

Yeah, these are completely different story. I have actually missed the Fleet Officer. Bad news for Fel's Wrath, as his buddies probably have to stop drinking Caipirinhas now.

Nope. Lorrir still sucks.

Yep, still needs either an EPT to let him take VI or have his ability errata'd to not cause any stress. Or both!

With AT he's slightly more durable, but that's it.

Tetran's buff is Stay on Target.

Tetran's biggest problem is that for one point more you could have Turr Phennir instead.

Stay on Target does look like it will be fun on him but for the same 26 points you could get Turr with VI.

Remember too that the meta has a great potential to change when Scum drops. With a larger number of mid-PS pilots in play, Lorrir could really shine again.
