I can't decide if having an ancient, dilapidated ship spawning people to do a job that no longer even exists is right for 40K.

That sounds very 40k to me, actually. But doesn't work if we're supposed to seek out the ship as part of the first adventure.

Perhaps the reverse then. The ship is supposed to produce it's own crew and any other beings needed but it has been getting less reliable over time until finally it just vanishes. Now a Dynasty is left with the last batch of crew produced waiting in stasis to be awakened. Assuming that these false men will have some connection with the ship they are thawed out and sent to meet their maker.

On that note, I'm happy to swap her origin to Footfallen if we all want to be co-created. :)

Vat friends!

We could all be grown and not known why, or even necessarily that we were vat grown, and then are trying to seek out the ship due to persistent recurring visions that were implanted in us while we were in the tanks, that have started to awaken now that we've reached a certain level of personal growth.

I'm in favour of us not knowing why we were created and leave that up to the GM.

That works pretty well for my character. Aware that he is the product of extensive natural selection and now the last of his line due to the sterility that has plagued his house. He seeks to overcome this and create a new Navigator bloodline whilst not being aware of his unnatural origins.

It seems kind of odd to me not to know we're unnatural, particularly as False Men are typically released from the Vats full grown. That would require implanted childhoods and other complications. We could, however, have no idea why, how or who created us.

To be Rank 2 explorers, we have to have some experience. If we were created on Footfall, perhaps we've spent that last 5-10 years as a team there gathering up our power base or the fragmented holdings of a lost Rogue Trader Dynasty before the dreams become to much, and we set out...

Quciksilver, sounds good. Could you tell the path you have chosen along the way ? Considering the Heirloom, and the fact you'd like to get a pair, it is reasonnable. You can get that, along the refractor Field, sacrifcing the extremly rare slot. Rare for the photon flash, very Rare for the Refractor Field, that will do. Nice picture by the way. As for the backgoround, i'd like to see what everyone is up too to mach everyone together.

So, you want all to be Footfallen and/or False Men ? That's interesting. I can get something with this. Consider in that case you can be from differents worlds if you are a False Man/Woman : you might have grown all in the same place, but perhaps you were send elsewhere quickly, with different kind of false memories... *GM grin*

There is indeed a component that heals people wwith a cost to their Fate, in Hostile Acquisitions : the Recovery Chambers. It is a Xeno component, though. But we can work something...

So we have Quicksilver the «Captain-in-all-but-name", First Officer

WeedyGrot the Navigator with the wierd limbs

Erathia the Seneschal with a dubious sense of honourable trade.

I could go for Astropath, for those times you really need the space-phone to call for directions, Explorator, for those times you have excess crew but could use some servitors or Missionary and Morale Officer. And of course, all ships need a Pilot...

Will immediately read up on the False Men thing!

Wow!

I haven't checked this thread in a day or two, suddenly exploded.

I'm back now.

If nobody has taken up the role of Explorator I would be willing to.

I was actually just falling in love with the idea of a Magos Biologis kinda Explorator, who does not go for the whole C'thulu look but whose goals involve the genetic perfection of mankind. Kinda picking up where the Empra left off, him being the Omnissiah and all.

But, If I could be persuaded to go for an Astropath instead, I guess....

I'm very in favour of getting a genetor on board.

There's actually no reason why we couldn't have both. An Exploritor that is Biologus-Churgion and an Exploritor who is a Engenseer-Technomat work well together without stepping over each other too much. There's a reason why Star Trek has both McCoy and Scotty. :)

P.S. I'll edit in the Origin Path & such in a bit, Mordechai.

Why not? The whole Mechanicus-heavy orientation fits well with our vat-grown background :)

Allright, I'll create my Genetor-wannabe and post him (or her?) up

I sure hope our Explorators show us the majesty of the Omnissiah's technology and bioengineering by generously agreeing to stand in front of us and tank all the melee fighters :D

If anyone needs me during combat I'll be in the tiny armoured box behind the wall of minions.

Also to any would be genetors out there. Feel free to study my miraculous regeneration, that will require you to keep me alive though.

I should think the True Servants of the Omnissiah would have plenty of armoured minions to stand behind themselves, no?

I was thinking of building a surprisingly human-looking Explorator, who will only use the very best of implants. Those that can't be seen, letting her remain in the perfect and holy form of the Omnissiah. As such, she probably will not be as Tank-y as many other Cogheads. But we'll see. I'll post stats in a few hours!

Uhm, are we all from Footfall, then? Seeing as how we're VAT grown together? Or is the choice of homeworld free?

the choice of homeworld is free : you can be from Footfall but that's not mandatory. false memories, special upbringings after being vat-born, that sort of things can vary... :)

Excellent. Things are coming along nicely. For my Gear choices, I was thinking a Combat Servitor to protect little squishy me.

Would selections from Dark Heresy's Lathe Worlds be appropriate? There is the Extremely Rare Spatha-Pattern Combat Servitor that could be an excellent minion :)

it appears that almost all of you wish to own his own servitor. Indeed, a Spatha is a good choice... And you did well to make me think to look in this supplement, one of you wanted a medical servitor, there is a perfect exemplar right here,

I suggest, Darth, if, you have a free Rare choice, a C.A.T unit servitor. That might be useful. A Synford pattern mobile bunker is also a good item.

I currently have all my "extra" gear slots free. I assume these replace the "free acquisition" all characters usually get?

If it is acceptable, then perhaps both a Spatha and a Remidium-Pattern Medicae Servitor (which is scarce, I believe? Boost it's abilities somewhat to reflect "Good Quality", and it can take the Rare slot?)

That still leaves me to suss out the Very Rare item, but I'll figure it out :)

I don't have the Lathe worlds books or Faith & coin so if there is any appropriate gear/alternate careers in there then just let me know because I wouldn't think to choose it.

I do want a medical servitor though. After all can't re-create a bloodline without a little experimentation.

it replace the free Acquisition, exactly.

I'll give a look in F&C, I don't think there is much for a Navigator, except of course you want your own Emperor's Tarot.

This thing is from the Lathe Worlds, and is Scarce

Remidium-Pattern Medicae Servitor

One of a number of patterns used throughout the Calixis Sector, the Remidium-pattern servitor is known for its reliability and steady hands (such as they are). Often used when true medical staff are absent, the Remidium can perform numerous common procedures, including basic cybernetic implantation.

Wow, that thing should be pretty decent at Medicae...

45 Int +20 Medicae + 10 for talented + 20? for the Medicae Mechadendrite + 10? for Master Chirugeon.

45+ 60 = 105 Medicae tests. That should be able to patch us up just right.

So with all the Servitors we're getting who is going to be the one to get the Colchite Servo-Master alternate rank? :P

I don't know that rank, where is it from?

As for the Medica-servitor, you could also assist it for additional bonuses :)
