Are Autothrusters fluffy?

By patox, in X-Wing

Because we need one more Autothrusters thread.

Just how does Autothrusters fit into the fluff of X-Wing?

I can kind of see why they would only at Range 3 or more. Maybe the "auto" can't kick in fast enough at closer range.

But why would they only work if you're outside of the attacker's firing arc?

They can react faster than the turret can turn.

Maybe the starting position of turrets is opposite of the firing arc? And by the time the turrets swing around into the firing arc of attacking ship, that gives the autothrusters of the defending ship enough time to fire off?

cause falcons are the debil!

They are made of recycled kitten so they are very fluffy.

More acurate response to the enemy's aim than the pilot him-/herself can manage, sounds fluffy to me - esspeically if you consider that without points of reference distances and relations are hard to judge with the human eye

As for shooting out of arc, aiming from a moving vehicle to hit another moving vehilce is very difficult if the vehicle you are on is not moving in the direction you are aiming

It's like when you see a starfighter 'jink' and 'juke' all around the place (better seen in shows like BSG) when a ship is bouncing around, much like TIEs do this is a very 'fluffy' card.. I think it make total sense.

Well just think of it this way. How do you think fighters turn effectively in space? RCS. Just think of this as really nice RCS.
