Two Tanks

By Koshinn, in X-Wing

I think I saw this Han build, or something similar, on Vassal once. But I wanted to build his companion as a tank too, and thus Luke with lone wolf and some old tricks made it to the list.

I like this as both have some offensive punch by rerolling an attack die (Han also rerolling everything), both can get focus for attacking (Luke via action, Han via Lando), and both have a ridiculous amount of survivability.

They aren't very maneuverable though.

Han Solo — YT-1300 46

Predator 3

C-3PO 3

Lando Calrissian 3

Experimental Interface 3

Millennium Falcon 1

Luke Skywalker — X-Wing 28

Lone Wolf 2

Flechette Torpedoes 2

R2-D2 4

Shield Upgrade 4

99 points total. The flechette torps are because I had 3 points left over.

Any thoughts?

Depends on what you throw at me first. Since you got Lone Wolf you will be keeping them separate so that means I can focus on one ship down before I move to the next.

I would be going after Luke first if they were both equal. It's the easiest to kill and it removes 3 firepower from the table. Posistioning will be to try and keep luke between mys squadron and the falcon so if the falcon wanted to save him it will be negating the lone wolf upgrade.

I'd really want Engine Upgrades on both ships. With only the two ships arc dodging will be key to maximising their survivability, as otherwise they'll just get focused down far too quickly. Han is especially vulnerable as he'll be performing greens almost every round. I'd make a straight swap with the Shield Upgrade on Luke, and on Han swap the Interface, Lando and Luke's Flechettes for the Upgrade and either Chewbacca, Artoo or Gunner (to maximise health or ensure damage output, whichever you prefer).

I Like your Han build a whole lot. I had come up with it too for some of my lists. Allows you so much tankiness without R2-D2 (which i dont like, despite the build eith him winning worlds).

I would just not take Luke as a second choice. Think about Corran Horn perhaps who is a lot more maneuvrable and has a ton more punch when it matters. Just take R2D2 and FCS on him. His 3 agility should defend him about as long as Luke with Lone wolf and Shield upgrade.

Another Choice would be 3 Bandit Z-95s, one of them with Ion Pulse Missiles (or other missiles) and munitions Failsafe, or just 3 Tala Z-95 like the world champ had!

A 40 point xwing is a pretty fat target, and you are only throwing 6 attack dice per round.

Want to fly two tanks? Try this out:

Patrol Leader

-Mara Jade

-Rebel Captive

Captain Kenkirk

-Ysane Isard

-Moff Jerrod

-Intelligence Agent

-Predator

Still only 6 attack dice, but now they are both turrets. The patrol leader goes in first as a stress machine, and Kenkirk follow it up by never dying, ever. The Intel Agent is simply there as a Jerrod discard, but could conceivable help with the decision to TL with the patrol leader vice focusing
