Does Algol's dicard/draw ability work with Alshain Najm? I mean, would it get +6 damage if you discarded 6 cards?

Indeed it does!
I love Algol pretty much just for that combination. That and Fatherly Love + Researching the Past. You can add it up pretty quickly with Alshain Najm.
In regards to your question, I believe that cards you discard as a cost do not count, such as Saikyo-ryu. There's others as well that say discard on the card effect but don't count toward Alshain's effect. One of the ones I'm not exactly sure about, but will find out is Researching anywhere. If it does work, it's a free 4 cards discarded.
