After Most Wanted comes out, both Rebel and Scum and Villainy Y-wings will have a huge number of options for how they can be built. Just considering generics and their turret options gives six possibilities:
- Ion cannon turret (current standard option)
- Ion cannon turret and BTL-A4 (math-wing analysis by Major Juggler)
- Autoblaster turret
- Autoblaster turret + BTL-A4
- Blaster turret
- Blaster turret + BTL-A4
All of these options look like they would give reasonably different Y-wings. Adding in astromechs for the rebel Y-wings (R2/R7-T1/R3-A2 all look like good options) or salvaged astromechs for S+V (all look like good possibilities right now) increases the diversity even further. And all this doesn't even consider adding bombs!
Here's a few specific questions about some of the myriad of possible options:
- Is a Y-wing with autoblaster, with or without BTL-A4, a reasonable way to spend 20 points? Could it be a useful option to fight high-agility/lots of evade dice ships?
- How good is a Scum Y-wing with blaster turret and the R4 agromech? (With or without BTL-A4?)
- Is R2 (for the rebels) and Unstable Astromech (for S+V) necessary if one takes the BTL-A4 title? How good is something like Syndicate thug + Ion turret + BTL-A4 and Unhinged astromech? Is it worth 25 points?
- Is the R3-A2 and BTL-A4 combination a good control option?
Considering these possibilities or others, I'd love to hear people's opinions on what generic Y-wing builds look good following Most-wanted's release.
