NNJ XWING!

By Magnus042, in X-Wing Organized Play

Hello all! I'm Alex,

I noticed a disturbance in the force here in north Jersey. I play with the NYC Xwing guys occasionally, but have had trouble finding games here closer to home. Turns out, Time Warp Comics in Cedar Grove NJ has space every Sunday 12-5.

I went two weeks ago and there was one other player there. Not enough for a tournament, but we had a great time nonetheless.

I'll be there again tomorrow, and will do my best to make it every Sunday. I'd love to see other pilots there! Hopefully we can get a strong group together!

I just picked up X-wing and have been looking for a place to play, If I had read this post earlier, I would have tried to show up. Hopefully I can make it there next Sunday.

Cheers

To all NNJ pilots:

If there is a space or day more convenient for you, let us know!

I want our group to be versatile and meeting up as often as we like, not just one day a week in the same place:)

Is there a fee to play? Or is that only for tournaments?

I also know someone that is interested in learning. He lives close to the store but works past the stores closing time. We played Dauntless when we were younger and he was pretty good.

There's no fee to just show up and play, I think a proper tourney is $5 per person, if we can get enough people there.

A few of us will be stopping by Time Warp Comics in Cedar Grove at 5:30 tomorrow for some casual games. Come say hello!

62 views! Say hello folks! I'd love to get to know my local pilots!

I'm planning on showing up tomorow. I'll do my best to be there around noon. Don't forget.....I've only played a few matches against others that never played.

Cheers all,

Harrald

No, we aren't. I didn't realize there was a facebook group. I don't use FB.

Just posting here, trying to get a group together

Thanks for the game today. I learned a lot and had a great time. This store is set up for gamers. Plenty of tables, room to play and a huge amount of items for all aspects of gaming.

Thanks again for helping me learn how to play. The dice were a major factor in that game.

Cheers,

Harrald

Try posting your game days/nights in the Facebook group. We use the Group feature in the South Jersey/Philly region and it's been incredibly successful.

Yeah that's a good idea, I'll work on setting up a facebook page this week.

Hey Alex, My name is Dave. I am the one who put together the NNJ X-Wing Facebook page. For you or anyone else interested, I am trying to get this community connected. Good to know Time warp is an option on Sundays. Maplewood Hobby, in Maplewood NJ, is another store that's available on Saturdays.

For anyone interested, we are having a tournament this upcoming Saturday December 6th starting at 11am. If interested please join the facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/NorthJerseyXwing/ and show up. I have created an event for it as well that I could also invite people to so I can get a head count. Hope to see some new faces.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for getting in touch! I'm happy to hear NNJ already has a facebook presence, can you make the page public? That way people can see whats happening without having to log in or be a facebook user.

The only concern about doing that is that suddenly it will appear on everyone's feed. I run the South Jersey Facebook page, and we had our members request to keep it closed/private so that their posts wouldn't show up so their friends/coworkers could see them.

Fair enough, it was just a suggestion.

Honestly I think it is public, or at least I tried to make it so. Under a certain size they cannot be public but I think now it is. I will look into it, though I do agree with mightspacepope... some people dont want their friends to know they play with toys lol.

when i click the link it takes me to the facebook login page. the central jersey xwing page is public.

It is set to public. If there is a setting I need to use to make it more visible I dont know what it is lol.

It's alright. Maybe you could post a link to this thread on there? That way we can organize here as well.

Not everyone likes using Facebook :P

I will post something in there for this thread as well. Here is the info for the tournament at Maplewood Hobby:

This is the first tournament at the store for x-wing. Please respond if you are attending that way I can get a head count. It will be 100 pts, standard tournament rules which are located in the FAQ https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/x-wing/support/faq/X-Wing-FAQ.pdf
Sign ups at 10:30-11:00 with first round at 11:00.

Rounds will be an hour with the number of rounds depended on how many players. Assume 3 rounds with maybe a 4th if its crowded.

For army building, My very strong suggestion is to use this: http://xwing-builder.co.uk/build . If you use this, you will not be required to have the upgrade cards for the ships since this can list it for you. Make sure to do full print out for it. If not, you must have the cards.

Please share with anyone who might be interested and hope to see a good turnout on Saturday.

Wish I could make it:(

PLease be sure to let everyone there know about sundays at Time Warp.

I'll be there sunday at noon!

Anyone interested in playing at Time Warp in Cedar Grove tomorrow?
