That has about everything I can think of.. there wasn't much at gen-con for upgrades.
So vrom the cards....looks to be a few assumptions... (danke heer nukem666)
1. crew-individual upgrades
2. crew-team upgrades
3. crew-tech upgrades
4. missile or torp upgrades
5. gunnery gun upgrades
6. cannon upgrades
7. circle shields upgrades
8. energizing engineer or sensor upgrades
9. title card
Huh, didn't know there would be so many different types. Is it like the upgrade bar in x-wing or can you slap as many upgrades on a ship as you please? Or is there a class system where a ship of 'x' size can have w, y, and z?
heer corvette....
....just looking at the page provided by nuke...it appears to be similar to the xwing upgrade-bar..with a listing of potential upgrades....
....I could not see all the upgrade-icon categories....and very much do not know the category names...best guess
danke
The cards have upgrade bars just like in X-Wing with distinct slots. There appears to be turbolaser, ion cannon (or maybe just laser cannon), and missiles for offensive slots, as well as a quad or flak-looking type gun. There are four distinct weapons upgrades, at any rate, all of which can be seen in the Victory display (and elsewhere).
There seem to be four non-weapon slots as well, including shields (or maybe there is a generic "systems" slot) and three different types of crew icons. The shield upgrade can be seen in the Assault Frigate spread. The crew, on the other hand, can all be seen in the Gladiator preview. It seems that these options are like X-Wing Super-Sized, where one type is for individuals and the other types are for crew "groups." Not sure if the groups will be restricted by the icon in the ship's bar, or if different types of support crew could be deployed into a generic crew slot. The different icons for each crew type make me inclined to believe that the former course is more likely, but who knows.
There may be a few more that aren't spoiled, but those eight upgrade options are what I could see for sure. We also know for certain that titles can be taken, so that would bump it to nine as the above post suggested.

It's much like X-wing. A ship has x, y or z upgrade icons which can fit x, y or z upgrade cards which each have their own point cost.

Okay, how much of this is observation, and how much is it assumption. Thus far, I can read that there are 'Commander' cards, of which Grand Moff Tarkin, Mon Mothma, and Director Isard are examples that we can see or read about. The same goes for Title cards, of which we can make out Warlord , Corrupter , Jaina's Light and Tantive IV .
There are a few others as well, but I'm not sure what the names of the categories are. If you could be clear about what is assumed and what is observed, that would be helpful when developing the Wiki , which we can further discuss here .
alles are assumption.... ...as stated before, that is what read from the article... unless you have more info! viele danke
okay....so what are the CATEGORIES now? awesome! vielen danke!
Okay, so we just got a number of images released, which allows up a bit more sleuthing. I captured some of the images to pull out just a couple of the icons, which I'll post below. My apologies for the poor clarity.
FFG names crew , comms , and weapons upgrades, though I don't know if that's an exhaustive list of three overarching categories, but we do know that there are subcategories with different icons. Let me first post the upgrade bars for the CR90a/b as well as the Victory I and II:
CR90a/b:
Victory I:
Victory II:
COMMANDERS
Commanders, such as Tarkin and Gen. Dodonna are taken singly and put on any ship of the player's choice, making that ship the flagship. They do not appear to have a specific icon in the lower-left of the card. Thus far we know about these two, but I'm guessing that Director Isard included in the Victory expansion, is a third.
CREW
In all three of the upgrade bars, we know that the first one (with the bare head and long neck) corresponds to a crew-type upgrade, that corresponds with the following icon, that we see on Leia:
It corresponds to the "1. crew-individual upgrades" which Conundrum Eternal posted in his list, and we see it on Leia Organa and some Admiral from the Gladiator, but also unnamed cards with individual images, such as the Weapons [Officer?], who has X-Wing's Fleet Officer image on her, also from the Gladiator (and the Assault Frigate and the Core set, along with three other such crew-individual cards).
However, the second icons from both the CR90s and the Victories also refer to a crew of some sort, but they're different. The one from the Victories, with the Imperial naval trooper helmet, refers to "2. crew-team upgrades". On the CR90 - the one with the hat - corresponds to "3. crew-tech upgrades". Let's stick with those names.
In terms of the crew-techs , in the CR90's icon we're able to see on the Engine Techs from the Gladiator (using the Engineering Team image from X-Wing), as well as on a Nav [Techs?] right beside her on the Gladiator's image (using the Navigator image from X-Wing).
In terms of the crew-teams we see a Sensor [Team?] in the Gladiator - suggesting that the Gladiator will be able to do both techs and teams. We also see that card on the Assault Frigate. There's also the Gunnery [Team] (using the Gunnery Team image from X-Wing). We see her on the Victory (which makes me guess that she's got a crew-team icon, because the Victories don't have tech-team upgrades), as well as the Assault Frigate and the Core Set. The Flight Controllers card (using the mirror image of the Flight Instructor from X-Wing) will also be a crew-team card, because we see it included in the Victory-class.
The victory also includes a Veteran ..., but I don't know if that will be an individual-type or a team-type crew card.
COMMS
The comms icon on the CR90's upgrade bar resembles the sensor/shields dome on a Star Destroyer. Ironically, the Victory-class Star Destroyers don't have that upgrade slot. We do see it on the Advanced [sensors?] upgrade from the Assault Frigate.
The Victories have a white blob connected by three black lines to a black blob. Given what they are attached to cards that look like Expanded [Hangars?] from the Victory, I don't think these are Comms upgrades, but they're not crew or weapons upgrades either.
WEAPONS
We see three types (so far). One has the icon below. Another has something that looks more like a missile (second from right on the Vic-I). The third has what almost looks like a mirror image, and is second from the right in the Vic-II).
This seems to refer to beam weapons, and we see it on Enhanced Armament as well on two of the three cards listed as Turbolasers . (The lower-left corner on the X17 in the Nebulon B expansion is covered, but I assume it has the same icon.) I don't know what upgrade type it will be called, so I'm holding off on giving it a category just yet. Turbolasers may just be a sub-type of this, which is only really important in terms of nomenclature, but is otherwise not distinguishable as a card type.
The missile icon we see on Expanded Launchers in the Gladiator, and Assault Concussion Missiles in the Victory Expansion. The Star Destroyers! article calls it the missile upgrade type , which can go on the Victory I and both of the Gladiators. Please find the category here: Missile Upgrade Cards .
The third icon appears on the Ion Cannon Batteries and the Overload Pulse in the Victory Expansion. The Star Destroyers! article calls it the Ion Cannon upgrade type
Anyway, that's what I've learned from the available imagery. Is anyone else picking up on something that should be added to the collective wisdom?
Edited by Mikael HasselsteinAre Rebel and Imperial crew different upgrade types? The symbols look very different.
Are Rebel and Imperial crew different upgrade types? The symbols look very different.
The distinction is in the faction icon next to the point-value spot in the lower-right corner. You can see it in Tarkin and Dodonna, below:
As Commanders, they don't correspond to an upgrade slot, as you can put them on any ship of your choosing.
You'll also see that same faction symbol from Dodonna on Leia, below:
That symbol (or the Imperial version) is absent on, say, the Engine Techs (which you can see in the Gladiator Expansion pack image, here . The Engine Techs, however, do have a crew icon, just a different icon than Leia. I'm guessing that this is because the Engine Techs are techs, while Leia is an individual.
So, the lower-left symbols are the same across factions, whereas the lower-right symbols indicate if they're specific to a faction or generic.
Edited by Mikael HasselsteinHeer Hasselstein!....awesome laydown on the categories!! Great work!

I think that weird icon is actually a weapon, perhaps. View the black blob and the lines as a gun/barrels, and the white blob as a smoke cloud coming off of the barrels. Granted, Star Wars doesn't really go in for autocannons much (they are in EaW, though!) but I think those icons may represent stylized flak weapons. I would hypothesize that this icon would allow for upgrades to your anti-starfighter armament.
I hope I am wrong though. I don't like it if the victory gets the chance to upgrade its flak capabilities and the CR-90 doesn't.

Mikael : Thanks again for all your work on the wiki
Agreed! Just signed in and started updating last night. Zero idea on the formatting though, usually more of a wiki reader than contributor.

Cool, thanks.
Yeah, wikis have their own code. But I'm sure you can figure it out. Send me a PM if you have any formatting issues that I can clear up or explain.
Anyway, we now know the hidden card on the Gladiator. Admiral Screed is not the other Admiral in the image.
There's really a lot in this news release. I've spent all morning updating the Wiki. I didn't actually know about the news item until last night. Armada news doesn't travel quite as fast as X-Wing news does.

Yeah, I tried to puzzle it out and post some stuff. I'm concerned I will mess something up

As long as you don't delete anything, I think it will be alright.
Is there any particular one you want to edit? I can maybe walk you through it.
Edited by Mikael Hasselsteinawesome work on updating the upgrade cats!...wunderbar....and enjoying all the work on the wiki! great work!!
Is there information if it is possible to upgrade ships with upgrade cards that came with a different ship as long as the type symbols are met? how was that ruled in x-wing?
i.e.:
http://starwars-armada.wikia.com/wiki/H9_Turbolasers
is made avialable through the assault frigate pack but judging from just the "turbo laser" upgrade category it might as well be installed i.e. in the nebulon-b.:
Cards from the "title" category seem to be hull exclusive denoted by the outlined hull symbol as in here.:
Also you could ask if H9 Turbolasers could be equipped by imperials as there is no rebel symbol on that card (in comparison to "gallant haven").
If H9 Turbolasers could be equipped on more ships then just the assault frigate that would be very nice in terms of modability. new expansions would have much more impact as they also "connect" to ships priviously owned more directly.
Yes, upgrades can be fit on any ship, regardless of which expansion they come in (assuming the icons are correct, as you say), and regardless of faction 9again, assuming there is no icon or text that states "Rebel Only").
Titles so far seem to be the only cards excluisve to specific hulls, and there are some crew that a re Faction Only. All commanders are Faction only to date.
you realy do camp this forum
.
thanks!
