:: Kyo :: Questions

I have 2 questions about 4 dot Kyo. First one is about his R Commit. If you have 0 momentum what happens if you use this? would the check be a 2? or would it not work?

Also if you use his effect to make them check a 2 and used forethought before the check would the check be a 0?

The minimum 2 is there for when you have 1 or no momentum. So if you have less than 2 momentum then it defaults to 2. As for forethought, I believe that floating effects take place before responses. So you play forethought, they make a check, the floating effect from forethought gives it -2, and then you can alter the check to be your momentum.

If you have 0 momentum the check becomes a 2, the ability still works if you have no momentum.

Forethought's check hack happens before the check is made, giving it -2, but Kyo's happens after the check is made, so it goes like this:

Forethought gives -2,

Check is made with -2 already,

Kyo then reacts and changes the check to whatever his momentum is. Since the -2 has already been applied it isn't applied again.

Essentially, don't use Forethought then use Kyo's ability, the 2nd cancels out the first.

I've made that mistake before... it's been rough.

but does that mean that you can respond using things that say after a control check is made?

Like dark hado or iga legacy?

Well you play responses in the order you choose. So if you made a check, you could R with Kyo to make is say an 8. And then after that you could respond with Iga Legacy for +3 to check an 11.

Our point is that anything that is played before the check, to modify it, takes place before any reactions after a check has been made.
