How big should a "Large" Asteroid be?

By Forgottenlore, in X-Wing

So, a back burner project of mine and a recent thread have got me wanting to add some variety to the terrain I have to play this game with. Among the ideas is having some large asteroids that can replace 2 of the regular size ones. How big do you guys figure such an asteroid should be (roughly, of course) to have close to an equivalent impact on game play as 2 regular rocks?

As of now the biggest obstacle you can have is a CR-90. And it takes up all 3 obstacle slots which means after you place it your opponent can then place 2 or 3 more asteroids or debris clouds anywhere without worrying about where you would place your other obstacles.

Although I would find it funny if the 2 obstacles were only a CR-90 and a GR-75. It would give it more of a Rouge Squadron / Battlefront II theme where the capital ships acted more like set pieces instead of combative ships.

The planet token that comes with Star Trek Attack Wing is a pretty good size, something like six inches in diameter. I've used it to replace two asteroids in Epic play.

~6''-10'' inch diameter should do.

"Cavernous Asteroid: When a ship or a ship's maneuvering template overlaps this asteroid, that ship receives 1 stress token. If that ship already possesses one or more stress tokens, its owner also rolls 1 attack die and suffers the result. Small-based ships overlapping this asteroid roll are considered obstructed while defending."

Gonna play-test this tonight to see if it works out.

You could do worm asteroids. For each Big one place a worm token. on it. If a ship starts its turn on an asteroid before revealing the dial flip the worm token over. If blank then discard the token and continue the activation phase. If a space slug is revealed then roll a defense dice. On a focus or evade discard the worm token. On a blank the ship is destroyed and then discard the worm token.
