Keyan Farlander

By Kepler, in X-Wing

Someone posted a great Keyan build that I unfortunately lost track of. So plz post here the many ideas behind using Keyan as a solo fighter and as part of a team (ie with upgrade card synergies, boost from other pilots).

It´s basically - where and how does he shine?

Cheers

Kepler

I'm going to love him with Stay On Target and Navigator.
Others have pointed out his huge synergy with Opportunist and Gunner, but that's more points than I'd like on him.

I'm going to run this tonight:

Keyan Farlander — B-Wing 29

Wingman 2

Heavy Laser Cannon 7

Jan Ors — HWK-290 25

Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing 25

Bandit Squadron Pilot — Z-95 Headhunter 12

Keyan Farlander.

Push the limit

Engine upgrade

Sensor Jammer

Love this build, makes him properly slippery and really fun to use

Keyan Farlander

*Advanced Sensors (get dat action before triggering stress, also a TL + "focus" combo and almost a rebel phantom with per-manuever barrel-rolls that almost never leave him stressed)

*Veteran Instincts/Stay on Target, if you're flashy, PTL at most

Imo, that's all you need

The B-wing is a relatively sturdy but still incredibly easy ship to focus down. In my experience, it's better to keep Keyan as cheap as possible to avoid Fat Falconing him up since he'll simply never be as maneuverable/durable or have a turret with which to support an obscene cost.

Just started using, and having good early success with Keyan, Adv Sen, HLC and VI (40) with 5 x bandit. Target lock then red manouvre, Its like a rebel version of the phantom + swarm.

Been thinking to make him a bit more tankier running 4 z95's, one of them Airen Cracken and giving Key either Jan Ors or , when he comes out Lando as a crew member. Key at 9 shoots first, removes the stress, then Cracken shoots and gives Key the extra action. Focus/ Jan evade or if your a bit of a gambler roll a Lando. Only problem is keeping them in range one of each other.

Yep, that Farlander is a beast.

You run him with?

I've been pretty pleased running him with Vi and advanced sensors, use the b wings dial to get your stress and the high ps lets you make sure you're going to shoot.

It might not be the most competitive option ever, but I've been using Farlander with VI (plenty of high-PS threats in the local metagame) + advanced sensors + HLC + Jan (crew). The b-wing has enough red maneuvers to consistently get stress, and I'd rather have higher PS and the extra maneuverability of the 1-turn and k-turn than PTL and PS 7. The HLC does the obvious and makes Farlander a major threat until he dies. And Jan delays the inevitable as long as possible, I usually get at least 2-3 extra HP out of the evade tokens which translates into more HLC shots.

I've been running him with VI and advanced sensors. Currently on an 11 match winning streak with him along with Biggs, bandit X95, and wedge/or Nera + Flechette + deadeye + munitions fail safe.

Fat Han (60 - VI, C3P0, Gun, EU, MF) with Farlander (40 - VI, HLC, AS) ... thoughts.

40 point b-wing? Go for it. My TIEs hunger.

Stay on target is a very good choice i faced a farlander using it and it worked well for my friend.

This one is fun.

I have run Farlander this way with good success:

I still like

Keyan, opportunist, hlc, adv sensors

Wes, vi, r3-a2

Biggs

Just unleashed my new Keyan build tonight and it was pretty solid. Went 2-1 with the loss coming to a Fat Han that was picking up 2 evade and 1 focus every round. With a different strategy (and a couple fewer mistakes) things might have ended differently. My 2 wins were pretty much blood bath's for my opponents though. And with that being said, here is the list:

Keyan w/ Advanced Sensors, Engine Upgrade and Veteran Instincts (37)

Wedge w/ R7-T1 and Outmaneuver (35)

Jek w/ VI (27)

All PS9. 99 points total to increase your opportunity to get or give your opponent initiative.

PTL is cool on Keyan and all but I find it unnecessary given all the red on his dial. The key is AS and EU which allows him to be extremely unpredictable. One of my favorite things to do is use a second round AS boost 1 straight and the reveal a 4 straight to go screaming across the board and throw a bunch of modifiable dice in your opponents face. The boost or barrel roll then reveal a red 1 turn is also highly effective. Of course if your red maneuver is going to leave you in the perfect spot without moving first you can simply TL first then move and pick up a stress. So money.

I think putting VI on him is also the way to go as you can be moving last the majority of the time and know exactly where you need to move.

Pairing him with a 9PS Jek Porkins is very strong at 27 points. You don't even need to trigger Piggy's ability for it to be a solid use of points.

Lastly, I think I want to play around w/ other upgrade ideas for Wedge in this list. While extremely powerful when everything works, R7-T1 seems way more situational than I originally thought. It's just not as consistent as I would like it to be. I did use it to tremendous effect a couple times though, denying Falcons any agility dice even through an asteroid at one point.

The 3 9's are a list that can be extremely deadly. A little squishy but pack some major punch.

Keyan + Advanced Sensors - 32

Wedge + Predator - 32

Corran - 35 (99) + Veteran Instincts -36 (100)

Seems like Keyan has a buffet of options there. If he wants to take a red maneuver, use AS for one action, if he wants a white or green maneuver, use PtL. Either way he'll always have a stress and at least one action. :)

It's interesting people prefer the maneuverable Keyan to the hlc Keyan.

I'll give it a try I guess, but it's hard to give up killing 5 HP or less things with each shot.

I thought a green maneuver would remove the stress he gets from AS + P-ingtL.

Why are you running Keyan with Push The Limit and Advanced Sensors? Seems excessive? Plz do elaborate... in situational detail :-)

AS is optional. He can fly green first and PTL second for a stress token.
