I've been runnin into problems with cut and paste. Sometimes when I copy a text I also copy the background color along with the text color. For example I get a text that is white with a dark background. How do I fix the background color? I try changing the font color but sometimes that doesnt help and The background color drowns out the font. Anyone know how to fix this?

Yes, if you have any familiarity with markup language, there's a little "light switch" icon top left on the menu (left of the font, etc). This lets you see the "forum markup". Then you can edit it directly. If you cut and paste from somewhere on the page, you'll get style and color tags around the text you copied, so this way you can remove that stuff directly.
Normally I just put the cursor at the bottom of the edit box and click the Quote button on the post I want to quote from, then remove the parts of the quote that are superfluous. Then I don't have to worry about all the copied style tags, and the attribution is correctly displayed.
If you do that Cntr-Z is your friend if you overdo the deletion.
Like whafrog said, the little switch in the upper-left corner of the editor will give you plain text. So I would paste into that, then switch back to rich text and do whatever you want formatting-wise.
The plain-text editor is also useful for cleaning up excessive quotes and other weird formatting issues.
First paste it into notepad or similar plain text word processor. Then re-copy.
Fast and easy.
Thanks.. I'm surprised I didnt think of the paste into notepad idea.

I didn't know that! Well, thanks from me as well. ![]()

You can use notepad, but that is just more complicated than using the rich-text toggle switch (like we suggested up top) in the upper left corner in this forum's text editor. Like this:

The eraser is a nice function! It is kinda selective though, so it depends on how much formatting you want removed.

If you are using chrome (and i understood your problem correctly), use ctrl+shift+V instead of ctrl+v.
If you are not using chrome go use chrome and re-read the line above.

Okay well 1) this forum uses BBCode, which is basically super-easy-to-use markup language (whereas HTML can be kind of involved).
2) Nobody's telling you guys to use HTML or BBCode
Just a simple trick to make your life easier. Look at the picture I posted above. It's just a simple click of a button, a paste, and then another click.
(BTW I'm sorry for posting that second picture; I have taken it down. I realize that might've been confusing. When you copy-paste stuff from any webpage into the plain-text mode of this forum's editor, it completely clears all formatting and all headaches. It will just look like text, like when you paste it into Notepad. Once it's been pasted, you can toggle back to rich-text mode (just click the little light switch again) and all will be right with the world and with your posts).
3) If you use Chrome, N4n0 has your fix which is even easier than my fix.

And hey I learned something new! That does, in fact, turn everything into plain text! Amazing.
Edited by awayputurwpnUh oh. Are my cuts and pastes all screwed up? I have no idea if I'm dragging colors along or where this light bulb thingie might be. I'd feel a lot worse about that than if I was wearing mismatched socks and everyone lets me know when I make that mistake / fashion statement.
