okay so i really wanna pick up a good empire series. Are there any that really get some of the famous tie pilots story down

Are you asking about books, comics or what?

books

I would like to read this as well.

:(

The only new books right now would be "A New Dawn" & "Tarkin".

I am currently reading "Tarkin", but "A New Dawn" is a good precursor to "Star Wars: Rebels" cartoon.

I'm currently reading Tarkin. If you liked the books: Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi you will also like Tarkin.

If you liked Shadows of the Empire you may be interested in Death Star by Steve Perry and Michael Reaves

Other than the last omnibus of the X-Wing Rogue Squadron comic series, there aren't really any great Tie pilot (or really Imperial) novels out there. There are individual issues - the Legacy comic series had "Noob" - one issue (number 4, collected in the trade paperback number 2, "Shards") which focuses on a new stormie recruit, and it was brilliant, but just one short story.

Good Imperial perspective books are thin on the ground, I think. I am curious about Tarkin, but have never really warmed to Luceno, so I'm not sure...

Crimson Empire (comic, not a book) is pretty good. Just a word of warning though, after reading it you'll be a little pissed off that Kir Kanos isn't better in X-Wing.
