Looking for a good firespray List!

By MedicFett, in X-Wing

I really enjoy flying the firespray, i am just looking for a list that will do good against most list. I have read a lot of the treads About firesparys. i am looking for lists that runs them and what is the best stuff to put on a firespary and what not two use on them.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Until scum drops I think you can't go past Krasis with HLC and recon. It still works great averages about 3/4 hits. That's 46 points so if you like the phantom you can go any of the power builds for that or the good old mini swarm still works great. Depending on what you like to fly and what your meta is the choice is yours really. You could squeeze in backstabber which is great for points efficientcy and whisper with ACD vi and 1 point for initive or echo with ACD vi and rebel. If you don't like the phantom or the swarm you could go a doom shuttle and buzzsaw shuttle. All big bases though,

Just some food for thought

I second that build I flew it with 2 x academy and PTL soontir. I am itching to put ysanne in the list instead of recon. I'll also need to find one more point because it is 47. Maybe carnor instead of soontir.

I really like Recon Spec on Firesprays.

Krassis (HLC, Recon Spec)

Echo (VI, ACD, Recon Spec)

Dark Curse

100pts

I have won consistently with either of these:

Bounty Hunter, Recon Specialist

Bounty Hunter, Recon Specialist

Omicron Group Pilot, Gunner, Fire Control System

Also:

Bounty Hunter, Tactician

Bounty Hunter, Tactician

Omicron Group Pilot, Gunner, Fire Control System, Tactician

Both lists have one at least one store championship sized tournament.

Bounty Hunter X 3. Done ;) (no it's legit competitive, and the basic naked Bounty Hunter is one of the most cost-effective ships in the game once you realize how easy it is to abuse the butt-arc)

the Krasiss + Recon is another tried and true module, but I'm not a fan of how many points it noms out of your list

There's also Scarlet + Marksmanship + Gunner with Howlrunner & 3 Academies.

Normally, though, I just use a (bare naked) bounty hunter and a buzzsaw shuttle (FCS + Gunner) when I get bored of my mini-swarm. Chuck in Whisper or Soontir, and you're good to go.

I own a single Firespray and otherwise only Rebel ships. I bought it in anticipation for S&V, but I like the look of the TIE Defender also. Is there any way to make a competitive list with just one Firespray and one or two Defenders? Otherwise I'll wait to run the Firespray with Ys and Z95s.

I would also be interested in reading what you all have to say about 2x Defenders and a Firespray

I always felt the two over-lapped, in the sense that the generic Defenders were basically just worse Fire-sprays on small bases. They're both fun for clearing the first pass (white k-turn versus butt-arc) and they're both expensive. Seriously, all you're getting is two Delta (ions) and one hunter at best (or Vessery, Delta, Hunter)

The PS 1 bugger does make for a mean Ion Cannon platform, though, so he's got that over the 'Spray.

Now Vessery is a point of distinction, because a 'Spray can't get a TL + Focus combo on its own.

Vessery

*V.I

Bounty Hunter

Omnicron

*FCS

*Gunner

[Total: 97]

Slap an ion on the hunter, because B-wings and junk are going to be incredibly annoying for a 3 ship list, or a weapon's enginner.

Alternatively, screw V.I and pick up cluster missiles

Either way, the shuttle's derpness is a great counter-point to the jousting capabilities of the 'spray and defender, and it's really the only cost effective way of adding some intimidating firepower. While slow, it's far more accurate and action independent than a Delta Squad Pilot.

Kath with ptl and recon spec is fun. She is basically a mini soontir fell with that focus, focus, evade.

I've no idea about being competitive, or the meta, I only play for fun, but I like dual Frespray builds. I avoid HLC as its a waste of your rear arc, which means I avoid Krassis too, so it's usually Boba and Kath for me.

I take Recon. Spec. every time (almost), Engine Upgrade pretty often, often Push the Limit or Veteran Instincts, or Outmanoeuvre, and I'm quite a fan of the bomb that deals face up damage cards - Seismic Charge is it?

EDIT: Forget to mention - Predator is a good one, and Lone Wolf, when it's out, should be ideal, especially if you have gone dual Firespray: a two ship list will surely make keeping away from your own ships as easy as it's ever likely to be.

Three Bounty Hunters is a fun one too :)

Push the Limit?

Push the Limit?

seems a waste given the limited amount of green manuevers and the fact that Kath and Boba really don't synergize with it

as a rule, I avoid stress on a spray because you want a wider dial to set up to abuse with the rear-arc

Wouldn't she be more like a jumbo Soontir Fel?

Baron"s Focus is still my favorite all comers list.

Soontir

BH+recon

Backstabber

Nightbeast

Few points to upgrade. I really prefer "Turr's hunting Party" so I can sub him in for Soontir and have another few points to upgrade either of the main ships but I typically only play that if I know my opponent is phantom free. There are Developing List threads for both and "Baron's Magic Spacebus" subs in a hipposhuttlebus for the BH.

I dunno, I find the dual arcs mean you've got more freedom to do greens, but you're right that it's not ideal. Predator and Outmanoeuvre are better fits (and Lone Wolf soon (next week?!).

Not sure how competitive you may find this list is as I tend to fly pretty casually. But it is Firespray/Defender list.

Krassis Trelix — Firespray-31 36

Heavy Laser Cannon 7

Captain Jonus — TIE Bomber 22

Swarm Tactics 2

Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE Defender 30

Ion Cannon 3

----

Thanks to Jonus, Krassis can reroll up to 3 of his HLC dice.

Thanks Merlin I like that idea! After reading this discussion and a Defender discussion, I ordered a TIE Defender. I just received the promo Scimitar pilots too, so it was joked that its time to get into Imperials. I have flown bombers in Vassal before and I like them, but for now I think I'll get by on a two-ship build with the expectation of just flying casual.

I really like the simplicity and balance of Bounty Hunter + Gunner.

WIth this build, if the Bounty Hunter is going to be shot at that round, I'll take evade as the action. Two defend dice and an evade token works pretty well on defense, and with gunner, the lack of a focus for offense isn't missed quite so much.

My favourite list with this right now is:

- Bounty Hunter + Gunner

- Echo + Veteran Instincts + Rebel Captive + Advanced Cloaking Device

- Omicron + Vader

If you can keep Echo out of arcs, the Bounty Hunter will take lots of shots; hence you'll want to be taking evade, and the Gunner means it still usually hits even without a focus.

What is every opinion on this build:

Bounty Hunter + autoblaster

Bounty Hunter + autoblaster

Jonus + SL

The points spent on Jonus and the Autoblasters are wasted unless you can consistently keep your opponent in range 1 and in your front arc.

It is designed to be up close and personal, but I don't know if it would be effective?

I don't think you'll get enough value from the Autoblasters and Jonus to be worth the points invested. I would find it very difficult to keep Jonus in range of the two Firesprays once combat starts. The Firespray gets 4 dice at range 1 which isn't quite as good as 3 dice with unavoiable hits but doesn't cost you 5 points either.

Unless you are an amazing Firespray pilot or your opponent engages you in a wide open part of the map, I wouldn't expect that you'd get to fire both Autoblasters with Jonus rerolls in the same round outside of the opening engagement.

I see your point! Thanks.

I'm trying to come up with a 2 firespray build.

Mercenary firespray with recon, two onyx defenders jobs a good UN.

Boba Fett

HLC

Predator

Rebel Captive

Rexler Brath

HLC

Predator

Have Boba shoot first and then use Rexlers ability to flip damage cards to crits. Works very well.
