A Very Stressful List

By Eruletho, in X-Wing

I was doing a bit of listbuilding at lunch and came up with what may be the most stressful list to fly against yet concieved:

Omicron Group Pilot (21)

-Tactician (2)

-Tactician (2)

Omicron Group Pilot (21)

-Tactician (2)

-Tactician (2)

Patrol Leader (40)

-Ysane Isard (4)

-Mara Jade (3)

-Rebel Captive (3)

The shuttles take the flanks, with the Decimator covering their rears. Total of 36 hit points, covered nearly no green dice to get my hopes up then fail me. Shuttles take whatever shots on range 2 targets they can get, with the Decmiator stressing up range 1 and whatever shoots at it and staying alive a bit longer thanks to Iceheart.

Interesting, although it seems vulnerable to range 3 secondary weapons and concentrated fire. Anything that gets to your flanks is going to reduce your stressing ability to the one-time per turn ability of Rebel Captive, assuming someone fires on the Decimator.

Looks like it could be pretty crappy to fly against. It will take some careful flying though to keep targets in arc at range 2 with a shuttle. I've never flown a double shuttle list, but I know how hard it is to fly just one successfully. I would like to give this list a try though.

So, I played this yesterday against 2 naked Bandits, 2 naked Reds, and Tarn Mison with R7 and a proton torp. The shuttles didn't do a whole lot, other than taking 1/4 of a bantit and 4/5 of a red down and double stressing Tarn while he was on a rock, then causing a bump that put Tarn back on the rock. The decimator though... the decimator killed his entire squad, with the exception of the 5 damage already accounted for by shuttles. Even if they didn't deal damage, the shuttles putting stress down and controlling board space made it so he never had more than 1 shot per turn on the decimator after the initial volley (which took the magical 5 hit points off, turning on Isard.) At multiple points all 5 of his ships were stressed, some of them doubly so. The list definitely worked, but not the way I thought it might.

You could drop one of the shuttles for a Scimitar pilot with double Fletchette Torps and MF. Then that will save you 4 points to add an engine upgrade on the other shuttle. The added maneuverability might help you keep targets in arc with the shuttle. The bomber will be able to give stress at range 3 as well.

You would only lose 4 hitpoints. Not a big deal as the bomber gets to roll an extra evade.

Maybe drop one of the tacticians for an Ion Cannon? When ionized, you must preform a white 1 straight, so you don't lose the stress.

? why 2xTactician

I don't get it is one stress not enough

I don't get it

2 Stress Tokens per shot and they can only clear one a turn. Against ships with poor dials it can be a killer. For most ships its No Hard turns or K Turns for at least 2 rounds. It takes ships out of the game so you can focus on whats left.

I like the build and use it myself but i think, Decimator wise, this build really benefits someone like the Rear Admiral (points i know) due to his Long Range ability (so you have all 3 Ranges 'covered' with an ability). Saying that the Tactical shuttle can still be effective even if its not shooting. In my games with the Stressbus, providing you can keep it in arc, it changes players tactics to avoid it.

In one game, i had Soontir trying to chase down a Fat-Han. I knew in a moment he would be able to slow play and block me, removing all of Soontirs protection, but i had moved my Shuttle into a position that meant he would be getting a R2 shot at the Falcon this turn. Falcon player made the expected move, realised the Shuttle was there and couldnt risk that so boosted (into R1 to avoid Tactician) because losing his actions was far more damaging to him and allowed Soontir to coast into place.
