Just wondering if her R: Commit can stop a reversal being played? Or does reversal no longer count as a keyword ability after being played like Ranged and Throw?
Can Karin* stop reversals?
OK reversal is a keyword ability.
To "play" the reversal keyword, from AGR 2.14.2.7,
R, Reveal a reversal from your hand:
So the cost is to reveal the reversal you wish to play. Once the cost is paid, the ability is considered played. (Note: at this time, the REVERSAL keyword ability is played, NOT the actual attack played as a reversal. )
Once the reversal keyword is played you negate it with karin, thus stopping them from playing the attack as a reversal.
So before the CC is made, when they "announce" that they want to play a reversal is when you negate it.
Hope that is clear.
Short answer is "yes" lol
So would I be able to stop ranged and throws with Karin and silver spoons BEFORE they check it?

Ranged and throws are Static Abilities, and aren't played. Therefore there is no window/trigger to respond to with Karin or Silver Spoon.

Thank you both for the quick and prompt responses!
What about astrids ability? any weapon can be played as reversal.. so even though without the actual keyword printed on there I can stop it with silver spoon and karin's e still then?
It says they may be played as a reversal, but she is still using the reversal keyword ability. So in this case she would use the reversal ability, revealing the attack (in her case a weapon) as the cost. Then you would negate it.
I haven't heard any ruling about her actually using the Reversal keyword ability. Last I heard, there was no definition for "as a reversal" or how that works.
If there's a thread where this was covered, can you direct me there?
I haven't seen one, but if she doesn't use the reversal response, then she can't play a reversal. In effect she says, your attacks with the weapon keyword have the reversal keyword. But without the weakness of being a reversal (i.e. bitter rivals). Thats how i see it anyway.
I would assume she would work exactly the same as promo Alba except she uses weapons instead of all attacks
If there's a keyword ability played, then Karin can cancel it. That'd include Reversals or Astrid trying to play a weapon as a reversal. Something that's a static keyword ability, like Ranged or Throw, can't be reacted to as it's continuous and not a played keyword ability.
Except that Astrid's ability IS a continuous (or "static," as you put it) ability.
I believe Astrid's ability essentially says she can play a weapon attack during the reversal step. It never says she gets to play the Reversal keyword ability.
Can we get an arbiter to arbit here? I feel like this is an important question.
Yes Karin can stop a reversal as it's announced.
Yes, Astrid may play any weapon card as a reversal. So they would be played at the reversal set, by triggering the Reversal R, so Karin can negate Astrid's reversal.
Okay...
So, to formalize this: "...may be played as a reversal" is the same as "...gets the Reversal keyword during the reversal step."
Yes?

Yes?
Correct. However if it's not the reversal step, it doesn't have the reversal keyword.
