PTL and proximity mines

By skins1924, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So can I use PTL to drop a proximity mine after I boost on a fire spray with an engine upgrade? Or maybe take my action then Ysanne triggers at the start of the combat phase and I use PTL to drop a proximity mine on someone at the start of the combat phase? With PTL, engine, ysanne and a proximity mine you could be a real pain at the start of the combat phase.

PTL can only be used to perform actions from your action bar. You'd need to place the Prox Mine first and then PTL an action from your action bar.

As mentioned above you can't use ptl to drop a proxy mine, but you CAN use Experimental Interface to drop proxies with your second action.

PTL is only for an action on your bar as others have noted, but the experimental interface (EI) synergy is a great idea for dropping after a boost. Otherwise with PTL it is drop then boost and stress. You theoretically could nest with PTL and EI to move-drop-PTL boost-EI drop- and then receive 2 stresses, but there presently isn't a ship that could do that that I know of since it requires multiple bomb slots and an EPT. Giving me potential ideas for scum though... :-)

Kavil could do it in a y-wing with two bomb loadouts. Would seem that slave-1 could also do it if the bomb loadout was used to replace your torpedo upgrade via slave-1, but that might be pushing your luck with rules interpretation.

The FAQ specifies that a ship can only drop one bomb a turn.

The Y-wing bomb upgrade title is limited, so only one per ship.

Good points and both true with FAQ and limited, but fun to imagine the theoretical scenario. Seems so rare that I'm not sure why either limitation was placed on the game. 2 Bombs on a Y-wing or a Tie Bomber doesn't seem unreasonable, and you pay the price of double stress for the mine trick.
