I just read through this entire post, and I loved it. Great imagination, great fun.

I do have some recommendations. The biggest one is it may be more effective if playing as a team if the team would utilize some from of IM tool (Trillian ?) to chat with each other and plan moves LIVE. It may make for better communication, and faster games. Just a thought.

One other thing ... I am retired. So I pretty much don't do anything all day long, but I do do it well.

Because of that, I would like to make the following offer:

I have an extensive collection of X-Wing (68+ ships), and would be willing to host for you guys. I am currently in the EST time zone of the US.

The draw back with using me as a host, however, is that I have only ever played a few games. I have watched many (casual and tournaments), and I think I really would enjoy hosting (but not actually playing), as a means of learning to play this game better. In other words, all of you can play the ships, and I will just facilitate moving them, rolling dice, posting pictures, etc.

Should you wish to take advantage of my offer, you would need to be patient and understanding, as I am not as well versed in all of the nuances of the game. This, of course, could be a draw back to all of you.

Again, just offering to help. If you aren't interested, I understand.

I think this is an outstanding idea.

I've played my fair share of games, but getting to see and act other people's moves definitely gave me a new look at things and was quite enjoyable.

I think, if you wanted, you could run a slow forum game (people post as they can) and you leave the table set up over a few days.

Or you could try and do as I did last night, and run a faster game. Admittedly it was close to 10 hrs from when the first person chose a ship to when we called it a night, so not exactly fast.

But I love the idea, and if I'm free when you're doing it, I'd love to be involved.

I suggested "furball" so there wouldn't need to be team collusion and anyone can jump in and take over. Probably lead to some more interesting game states but it would also be tactically interesting to try to figure out what others were thinking or how to get out of a mess. High PS would get over valued as you can "react" more since there is no set dials. But It would still work.

I think this would also be a lot of fun. Whichever ship is up, can be piloted by whomever posts next.

I also like a 30-35pt limit just so we can get some more interesting ships on the board.
