Does Jan Ors' ability give Corran Horn the additional attack dice for both attacks (combat and end phase attacks)? Or does it only apply for Horn's first attack (combat phase)? Our ruling was that it doesn't trigger for both attacks, but we only came to that ruling with a dice roll-off.

Jan Ors: When another friendly ship at Range 1-3 is attacking, if you have no stress tokens, you may receive 1 stress token to allow that ship to roll 1 additional attack die.

Corran Horn: At the start of the End phase, you may perform one attack. You cannot attack during the next round.

The Rebel's argument was that it should apply to both attacks due to the ambiguity in the wording of Jan Ors' ability, i.e. it's implied that it would last until the end of the entire round, else the card would state so otherwise. The Imp's argument (mine) was that the attack in the end phase is a separate attack and thus Jan's ability would have to be triggered again, which wouldn't be possible if she still had that stress on her.

I posted this at BGG as well, but I want to ensure our rulings are unanimous (or that we get an official ruling).

"When attacking" abilities apply only for the duration of the attack, and then end. So if Jan boosts Corran's first attack, it does nothing for his second, it would need to be triggered again.

Effects which last for the rest of the round say so explicitly - Marksmanship is a good example of this.

The duration is given by the trigger: "when... attacking." It adds one attack die to that attack.

I would say the way you said it is how it is. If she had her stress removed somehow before Corran's second attack, she could use it again.

Although, now that you've mentioned it, is there a way to remove a stress token from Jan between Corran Horn's combat phase attack, and his end phase attack? This could be an interesting build!

I'm looking through my available pilots, and most of them remove stress tokens from themselves.

None that I can think of at the moment... but doesn't mean there won't be some possible combination in the future

At the moment only Captain Yorr can take a stress token from another friendly during Combat, but he is on the Imperial side so he cannot (will not) help Jan Ors.
