Hello everyone. I have had this question since starting to play edge of the Empire earlier this year, and figured with force and destiny that it might be a good time to ask. So Im guessing force push/pull are considered under the move power. Can someone explain how this works in the move power? I guess Im looking for like what the narative would be, and damage. It addresses throwing objects at others, but not like using the force to like throw someone into a wall or stuff like that. I know this isnt the best worded question, but any insight or pointing out something Ive missed in the rules would be greatly appreciated.
Force push
Per RAW, you need the weaponized Control upgrade, then you can throw the target(s). Presumably Silhouette 1 targets take 10 points damage if you throw them into each other, or something ungiving, like a wall.
It could be done with either the Move power (pg 208-210) or the Bind power (pg 198-200). Bind can move a target away from you and has some cool effects you can apply, like Disorient or Stagger.
For what it's worth, the answer from Sam Stewart on this was "just use the Move power" to hurl the target away and inflict damage, with the possibility of spending any advantage or Triumphs to further hamper the target, such as adding setback dice to account for them being "disoriented" by the throw, or their weapon being knocked away as they went flying back, or even the a Triumph to knock the target prone. You really wouldn't need any Range Upgrades, and while the narrative effect is "target gets pushed back a couple meters and hits the ground" the mechanical effect is that you're 'slamming' the target into the ground.
As Away mentioned, Bind provides the ability to move the target around, much as Dooku did in RotS to Obi-Wan (floated him in the air while Force choking him before hurling him aside).
You take move. Then you take the control upgrade. Then you take the strength upgrade. Now you can hurl one target. Take the magnitude upgrade a couple times to throw multiple targets.
