Differences Between th Nebulon B and Glatiator?

By Corellian Corvette, in Star Wars: Armada

So I really want to have Nebulon B's escorting my Victories, and I realized that having a rebel ship on the imperial side might unbalance things. SO I decided to buy a glatiator expansion pack and simply replace the model with that of a nebulon B, so only the visual model has changed, base and stats remains the same.

However, I realised that I don't really know much about the Glatiator, and was wondering what the more knowlageable community knows and if they could help me out and find out how different the gladiator plays from the nebulon B frigate.

From my knowledge the nebulon B is a very anti fighter ship, and the gladiator is just a close range anti capital ship.

Well from looking at the ships we see:

Nebulon: 5 Hull

Front: 3 Shield, 3 Red Attack

Side: 1 Shield, 1 Red and 1 Blue Attack

Rear: 2 Shields, 2 Red Attack

Anti-Fighter: 2 Blue Attack

Gladiator: 5 Hull

Front: 3 Shield, 2 Red and 2 Black Attack

Side: 2 Shield, 1 Red and 3 Black Attack

Read: 1 Shield, 1 Red and 1 Black Attack

Anti-Fighter: 2 Blue Attack

Of course this is only for the two ship cards presented in the wave 1 preview.

Do we know anything about their points value? Command/squadron/engineering values?

Seems like the glatiator is a close range brawling ship.

Sounds kind of like those guys that use to fight in the old Roman arena, What were they called again?... O yea I remember...

Nebulon:

2 Command

2 Squadron

3 Engineering

Defense Actions:

Evade, 2 Reduce by Half

Gladiator:

2 Command

2 Squadron

3 Engineering

Defense Actions:

Evade, Redirect, Reduce by Half

Based off the previews I assume that you will be able to upgrade the gladiator more. And as for their costs I don't know they may be covered in some of the older Gencon threads, don't particularly feel like looking for it through 10 plus pages of speculation. Besides the facts those were beta values and may not be the final costs of the ship.

Thanks guys for the data! Seems like the glatiator is just overall a better ship.

Only problem with my plan is I will have a bunch of unused glatiator hulls. I could probably just sell them though.

We still don't know the more nitty-gritty details about the ships. There could easily be big differences in speed/manuverabily, points cost, and titles. Also, since there are two versions of each ship(that I know of) they could function in completely different ways.

I think that if the Neb-B player can control the range it can actually outgun the Gladiator-I.because the Gladiator has a lot of short range Black dice but the Neb-b has all Blues and Reds.

What is the difference between a Gladiator and a Nebulon-B?

Uh...let me see...they look different? And also have different names? ;)

Seriously, though, I agree with the above post that says the Nebulon-B will probably be better at hanging out at range, whereas the Gladiator seems built to get up close and personal. I also thought I saw two blue dice on the Gladiator's anti-starfighter battery, which would make it an adequate flak ship when compared to the Victory.

Time will tell on all the little differences in role, but I am excited to see both ships in action!
