Scarlett's Parade

By Bohrdumb, in X-Wing

Kath Scarlett

+ Opportunist

+ Inertial Dampeners

+ Intelligence Agent

At R1 I'm throwing 6 attack dice with a Focus.

The amount of ships you're likely to one shot is pretty high. Most TIEs, Z's, A's, etc.

Add in:

Kavil

+ Blaster Turret

+ R4 Agromech

+ Determination

2 x Binayre Pirates

I'd much rather have a more reliable 3/4/5 dice attack than pray for good luck on a 4/5/6 + stress that might not trigger.

On that note, I'd trade Opportunist for something like Predator in a heart-beat.

Youll also have an initiative bid, so exchange Kavil's Determination for V.I (an upgrade that works 100% of the time) and get ready to snipe phantoms.

The point of the pirates is to do some simple blocking to deny actions so Kath has some shots she likes.

I'm also not that worried about initiative. If i have a pilot who lives and dies based on placement, I might consider it. But Kavil with a turret isn't as concerned.

Good on paper, but 2 things slightly bother me:

- If you use inertia dampeners, you get a stress, which prevent the focus. (or am I missing something?)

- No engine upgrade (all my firespray builds have it to make sure my opponent stays in arc.

It will also not allow opportunist to kick in. EU would be nice, but isn't completely necessary to keep targets in the rear arc. Once after the initial joust, most of the shots you take are out of the rear arc usually.

blocking is never a guarantee, especially not with a mere two pirates

opportunist still strikes as incredibly situational, and simply not as reliable as added accuracy

I love opportunist, but it's definitely a card that I build around to maximize it's value. In this squad it seems like you have better options for those 4 points. I love running Firesprays with EU. I think EU will help you out when you have to Fly against the likes of Super Dash. You will need the speed to keep up and potentially boost into the R1 safe zone.
