What to expect

By RsRabin, in X-Wing

Hey guys I've got a 150pt tournament coming up and was wondering just what to expect. What are some of the differences other than just more ships? Are assault missiles something to be worried about?

Anything anyone has learned or noticed about 150 point games would be very much appreciated. Also if anyone has any list ideas id love to see them.

Triple Falcons are a thing.

So are swarms of 12 TIE Fighters, inc Howlrunner.

Support abilities become much more useful, as do splash-damage effects, asteroid placements, flanking, and survivability.

12 TIE w/Howlrunner will definitely shorten your game.

At 150 you can expect one of 2 things: more ships of course, or players that don't want to run too many ships so they load up on upgrades.

The bigger the game, area effect weapons become more fun. I like 150 better than 100 for a default game level.

Larger formations are really hard to keep together. You are more like.y to see someone try a pincer attack or bring flankers.

I agree that I tend to use support ships more at 125 or 150, and they are more effective when there are more ships for them to support, and they live longer when there are more ships to protect them. Jendon is good at 150, kyle / hawk /focus battery is as well. the current META seems to favor high PS a lot, So expect high PS pilots decked out with everything. Rexler, corran horn, whisper, wedge, luke, keyan farlander. YMMV however. I think it is fun to shake it up and bring more lower skill ships myself, and that is less popular currently, so tends to be unexpected. think about XXXBBB for a second, or AAAAXXX, all of these are possible. AOE weapons might be more effective because of more ships on the board. consider the lowly proxmine, especially if you are running low PS ships. 4 bombers with jendon and a prox mine on each one can redefine the word board control, and can make fat han sweat bullets. I love 125 to 150 point games. enjoy and good luck!

3+ buzzsaw shuttles with room for support. It's a white out. It's awesome. You usually only need 2 and a doom though.

It's also a great place to see traditional swarm + a BIG ship on either side. If you have a decimator and 6 named ties I'd do that. Little room left over for fun and profit. Big O deathroll swarm or a Chirpy sniper + swarm.

Missiles and torps and bombs all suddenly look more appealing too.

You could run 5 OGP shuttles with EU + Gunner
