New Player, New List

By Jimmeh, in X-Wing

Hey everyone, returning to the game after a little hiatus and wanted to run a new list by you folks:

Corran Horn, Rt-71, shield upgrade, advanced sensors. 47

Ethahn A'baht, veteran instincts. 33

Arian Cracken, draw their fire. 20

Thanks!

I love E-wings, but I don't know... I would probably drop Cracken and DtF only because I have found that to keep the Es alive you will not fly them close enough to benefit Cracken's ability and upgrade. Maybe Blout- even naked he can strip stealth device. That could get you a upgrade or two for Ethahn.

Speaking of Ethahn- I don't think you have enough ships to justify his points for his ability- working with Horn's double tap would be sweet, I just don't know if it's worth it. He could also use a little more defense...

I think there is a lot of fun stuff in here, and it makes me want to try some sort of variant. I think spreading the points out a bit between the Es will improve this squad. I also think loosing the Z for an A-wing will give you 3 fast ships that the empire might find tough to pin down.

Something like this?

99 points.

Corran Horn — E-Wing 35

Fire-Control System 2

R2-D2 4

Etahn A'baht — E-Wing 32

R7-T1 3

Gemmer Sojan — A-Wing 22

Chardaan Refit -2

Push the Limit 3

A-Wing Test Pilot

I agree with Dan, Etahn's ability is more effective when you have more ships. I also wouldn't recommend taking draw their fire if it's not on a ship with lots of hit points (a falcon) or a ship that can regenerate shields (R2-D2). Corran's ability also makes him the perfect candidate to (ab)use fire-control system. So I tried to keep the spirit of your build, which for me is 'hit hard and fast' while keeping the point sinks alive for as long as possible, with the following:

99 Points

Corran Horn (35)

Push the Limit (3)

R2 (1)

Fire-Control System (2)

Biggs (25)

Wedge (29)

Veteren Instincts (1)

R7-T1 (3)

You can also swap PtL and R2 on Corran for R2-D2 and DtF if you'd rather try to keep Biggs alive a turn longer instead of getting a focus + evade/barrel roll (+TL from FCS) every turn, but in my experience people tend to go after Wedge whenever possible (i.e. as soon as Biggs is off the table) which can make DtF doubly effective as it can be used to keep both Biggs and Wedge alive, but that depends on your opponent's choices.

If I'm running an E-Wing, it has R2-D2 aboard.
If I'm running Draw Their Fire, it has R2-D2 aboard.
Ergo...

Thanks, I'll try out a few mixes and let you guys know what works.

I like your original list, but I'd immediately be gunning for Cracken. He has the lowest agility and health so I'd just pick him right off. Instead, switch your shields to Cracken, or completely downgrade him to a cheaper Z, or a rookie X (or cheap HWK).
