My smuggler crew are looking for a Core World that would be a good place to pick up medical equipment for their mad-scientist patron. For the Firefly fans, it'll probably end up looking something like the episode "Ariel." However, I don't want it to be Thyferra, because that seems a little too canned. I was thinking that Abregado-Rae might be interesting, since it seems like a black market hub and is on the "Bacta Run"; however, I know little about that world. Any thoughts?

Well does it need to be a "Medical" world, or just an appropriately civilized one? There's lots of planets out there with nice hospitals....

Abregado-rae is a solid choice for what you're looking for, unless you want to go for the full ecumenopolis -- Abregado-rae is described as being pretty backwater for a Core World -- at which point, I recommend you go big or go home and set it on Coruscant.

Alternatively, and this is my favorite option, make something up that fits your purposes. The Star Wars universe is so mind-boggling in scale that it's easy to have huge city-planets go unmentioned in "official" materials. Just fill in the blanks with whatever you need for your adventure and have some fun. It can even become a recurring location.

I would say you make up a planet. You may want to use the "Planet Generator" post that I made recently, for inspiration.

I'd go with Alderaan. The pacifistic society could present a challenge to the PCs as they try to make do without (or with concealed) weapons.
