Relics

By synapticexorcizm, in Warhammer 40,000: Conquest - Rules Questions

Hello,

So how can I get a different relic in play after I already have one in play. Am I able to deploy the newer relic and discard the previous one? It sounds like once you have a relic in play your are stuck until the unit it's attached to is destroyed. Is that right?

Also, when do attachments ready? Iron Halo, for example, it only readies during headquarters and doesn't ready during end of combat right?

Thanks

There are various ways to "get rid" of a Relic that is in play:

- You can have that unit killed

- You can sacrifice the unit (this is, your opponent forces you to sacrificy a unit and you choose that card or you play a card that allows you to sacrifice a unit)

- You bring the unit back to your hand (there are some Support cards that allow you to bring a unit to your hand and there are cards that force the opponent to do so if I'm not wrong)

- I think there's some card that destroys an Attachment, but I'm not 100% sure about it

But, this far, you can't just discard it freely-willy =P

If I'm not wrong, only the units ready each turn, not their attachments. Therefore, you could only use the Iron Halo once per round and must wait to the HQ phase to ready it.

Just checked the reference document for the combat phase (page 26, point "3.2.9 Combat round ends" just in case:

2. Ready each unit at the planet. (Note that this step does not ready exhausted attachments on the units.)

So there you go =)

THANKS!!!!

I was about to ask similar questions. Both "Tallassarian Tempest Blade" and "Iron Halo" are labeled as relics, and both have the text "one relic per player" on the cards, I just wasnt clear if this meant one card had to be left out of the ultramarine starter deck. Thanks .

RRG page 10:

This phrase is a game restriction and not a
deckbuilding restriction; a player may have
multiple cards with the Relic trait in his deck

So, if/when there are enough cards, you could craft a deck entirely out of relics...but you would only have 1 card in play and be unable to deploy any other relics until that first relic left play somehow. :P

Well, we might one day have a warlord whose signature squad is entirely made up of relics, but I seriously doubt it. :P Anyway, even if it was possible, it'd be a very bad idea to build such a deck (because you would only have a warlord with a relic and a bunch of shields).

What if the warlord's ability were "Reaction: After you successfully shield damage, deal that about of damage to a target unit."?

(Never say never.... :D )

You just overloaded my sarcasm detector...
