Swarm tactics gives all ships PS8 during the combat phase. The Outrider will have 5 attack dice at range 2 and 3 (4 for HLC + one from Jan Ors), rising to 6 if the target is stressed, all in a 360 arc. It also provides some defensive cover for the Hawk and Z-95. The Outrider should be mobile enough to keep at least one target at range 2 to 3 at all times. The Hawk and Cracken will engage any enemies that make it into Range 1. Cracken will ensure that Jan is destressed even if green moves aren't available and his ability to barrel roll for position and target lock.
A slight variant to the list would be to replace the blaster turret and recon specialist with an ion turret and use the 2 points saved to add a mercenary co-pilot to the Outrider, adding a crit to the 5 or 6 dice attack. This would add control but I'm worried that it would reduce the lists effectiveness against swarms.
