So I was reading in the Edge of the Empire Beginner Game about talents and how you can get a talent twice if it shows up twice on the talent tree. Now, it says that if you get a talent twice you get an additional "rank of that talent". Do talents actually have ranks that you keep track of, and if so, how do you keep track of those ranks (or is it just how they worded those rules)?

But if you didn't have that, you'd check off the entries in the Talent tree, and somewhere on your character sheet you'd list your Talents and note how many ranks of each you had.

Note that not all Talents are ranked, so if you bought a Talent in one tree and it also shows up in a second tree you bought, you don't have to buy the non-ranked Talent twice.

Yeah, a ranked talent will generally give you some iterative benefit. +1 Boost die per rank for X skill check, -1 Setback die per rank for X skill check, +10 Critical Injury result per rank, +1 damage per rank, etc.

In Edge of the Empire, it is clear when a talent is ranked (it will say so in the rules) and it will always tell you exactly what you get per rank.
