Luxury vehicle for Rogue Trader

By skydiver000, in Rogue Trader

Any idea for luxury vehicle for RT to travel from ship to diplomatic meeting on a planet?

I always use an over-gunned blinged-out gun-cutter.

I suppose that'll do for casual ship to ship transport, :)

now if you want to make an impression...

I'd use :

An enviromentally sealed palanquin made of gold/adamantium alloy, equiped with Anti-grav plates, Force field, Auspex, Comunications array, Loud hailers, Enivromental control, Psy warding, Teleport beacon and a full stocked minibar.

It's borne by two gold skinned servitors They are the size of ogryns, but far les ugly and brutish and secially vat grown and cybernetically enhanced to withstand the vacuum of space and the descent into atmosphere. They carry winged jumpacks and their own personal force field generators (something along the lines of those Iron Halos the astartes tend to use)

And it's surrounded by the usualy swarm of psyber eagles, cherubs, jewel studded servo skulls , etc.

Color me officially impressed, Robin Graves.

That's what i like about the rogue traders, they can go realy over the top extravagant to the point even a Slaaneshi cultist or noise marine woul'd go: "Dude, don't you think you're overdoing it a bit?"

I like it Robin, and I'd go further. Since antiques are so fashion-important, the older the better, even if it doesn't work. That tricked-out palanquin could be an ancient fly-cycle of the Dark Angels variety that you scaveneged from some battlefield. No, it doesn't fly anymore. And that doesn't matter. That's what the golden servitors are for. They add a certain opulent flair, a decadence that speaks volumes. And don't stop at 2. More is better. How many? As many as can put their hands on it while carrying it without stepping on each others' toes, of course.

For going down on a planet in style, a customised Auto-temple is the way to go. The palanquin is good, but it's a bit small-ish, isn't it ?

Dropping a whole gold-plated, full of precious wood and marbles, roccoco style cathedral for your arrival, THAT's what I call a dramatic entrance. you' ll have room in there for your flock of cherubs and servo cranes, your own praetorian guard, the marching band following you and playing your own theme, the thousand man chore chanting your praise in false latin, a vox caster so that you can emit speeches all accross the world via a transfer to your ship own broadband casters, your own pimp-mobile of choice, a teleport homer / your emergency aeronautica to go back home in an emergency.

And more importantly, barely enough room for two days worth of clothings for you and your retinue.

To improve that, I suggest to invest in a lot of gravity plates and antigrav systems, to ease the landing of it, and the take-off process.

Yes, i've seen that in game, why do you ask ?

Yeah, auto-temples aren't bad for ship-to-surface. When it comes to ship-to-ship transportation, I've found the most effective way of making an entrance is a luxuriously appointed custom boarding torpedo: wrought of adamantium, with an iridium plating (and intagliated devotional scenes in gold and platinum filigree); and carefully tailored breaching charges that play the "March of the Primarchs" as they detonate.

The follow up, and retrieval flight is, of course, an equally decorated squadron of custom shuttles: a mix of sybaritically luxurious personnel strato-limos; dedicated vox-craft and astropath-carrying psyk-craft, filling the airwaves and minds of all who bear witness with hymns and paeans of praise to the Emperor and the Rogue Trader; servitor gunships crafted, by cunning artifice, into the forms of the Primarchs Sanguinius, Dorn, Corax, Russ, Khan and Guilliman (it is rumoured the Magos who built them created a full set of 19, and is eagerly seeking the likenesses of the two Forgotten, so that he can complete his work of the Emperor and all His sons); and of course, a pair of solid iridium salvage boats fitted with giant gripping claws to pull the torpedo free of whatever ship he was visiting and bear it back to the flagship for refitting and re-use.

Of course, this will decompress whatever compartment he entered, but, well, it sucks to be them.

Very nice. :) thx

How about when RT is a PC and Navigator is a PC, too. Both want separate vehicles. To impress but also for fight. Also during boarding action the Navigator wants to send his bodyguards from his House on a sparate mission to assassinate/capture the Navigator of the enemy ship. Without the knowleadge of RT. What vehicle would you use for the assassins? A separate boarding torpedo?

I prefer the Autotemple idea but without the ability to lift back off again. That means that you have enough resources to afford to abandon something so ornate that is obviously the life's work of thousands of people on a whim.

That way you can teleport back to the ship after landing in the temple and leave the temple behind as a monument to your opulence.

Nothing is more stylish than teleporting in your hexagrammatically warded lathe wrought terminator armor, with a squad of Imperial Fists terminators and a relic Contemptor Dreadnought. Imperial diplomacy at it's finest.

Just crash your ship into the planet and conduct all business from within. Then when it comes to time for the ship to leave, simply buy a new one!

I did this with a Chaos tainted cruiser... at full speed.

It was one way to deal with a full blown chaos incursion and a chaos ship in one go.

Its nice to add a Cruiser and Planet to my list of kills.

A pure gold, diamond-encrusted Land Speeder with a serious sound system. Like, real serious. All the bass. So much bass that a noise marine would nod in approval. The seats should be covered in some kind of plush fur, or xenos skin - for your more militant RTs and to keep the Missionary happy. There should be a special seat/slot for the Explorator to sit in - sort of the R2D2 in the x-wing. The RT never actually drives - the Void-Master does... and he has to wear a chauffeur cap all the time. The RT sits in the back on a sofa of sorts. There's enough room for the RT and not less than 3 girls/boys/servants/slaves, whatever he or she is into.

The vehicle is armed, but the guns are in pop out turrets so as to keep the thing looking smooth when not in combat. When in combat, the vehicle features a trio of Heavy Bolters. They are made of pure gold/platinum and fire diamonds. Whenever firing, the sound system blares "Nothin' but a G thang."

Edit:

Oh, and it has wheels with spinners. And those spinners, have spinners. The RT knows it doesn't actually drive, but he/she got a hold of some ancient earth vids from 990.M2, and decided they looked hard.

Pimp my landraider!

I'd also slap a spoiler on it somewhere :)

A spoiler in the shape of an aquilla...

and it's made of gold!
