Well I just thought it was kinda funny how they introduced it as the new Tie Starfighter, the latest product from Siener Fleet Systems. It made me think that they all waited til the last minute and were like "What do we do? What do we do? Oh I know lets use curved wings!!!! Genius!!!" And thus forth they were signed another large military contract.

All kidding aside the episode was pretty cool and so was the fighter, though I'm looking forward to next week to see if it gets much more screen time since so far it was just leading the other fighters to attack the Ghost.

Going off the Imperial Handbook the V1 is basically a smaller scale X1 probably with less features.

A not so common nick name for TIE-Bombers is the "Double Chili-Dog TIE." I can see the V1 having "Hot Pocket" as a nick name.
