OT: new rebels episode tie adv!

By Jaden Ckast, in X-Wing

So has anyone caught a chance to watch the new rebels episode featuring the inquisitor using the new tie adv with folding wings?! If so what do you think of the new design?

Also of mention was the brief cameos of tie bombers in the data plans zeebo was carrying.

Can't get any images outside of some toys and a screen cap

This Tie Advance looks...adorable

Seriously, it's so round and it's wings are so tiny, I just want to pinch its non-existent cheeks :D

Well, if the Advance is in rebels, that just increases suspicions that the Gozanti will be the imperial huge ship and that it'll come packadged with the fixes for the Tie Advance :)

I'd buy that. ;)

You can watch the episode on Disney xd if you have cable, the episodes are a week ahead of TV. It was also interesting how the inquisitor flying the adv looked similar to vader in his adv. Can't wait for the next episode since it's a 2 parter. Maybe ffg could do a rerelease of the advance using this model instead and adding +1 attack hahaha

Did you mean you can watch them on DisneyXD.com - which are 1 week ahead of the tv broadcast?

I'm watching via Amazon Instant - the episodes seem to be released on Tuesday after the Monday broadcast

what do you mean 'ahead of tv'? - I thought they were only on Disney XD

:? really? Like I said, I'm on Amazon, and we just watched the latest episode they have which was 'Out of Darkness' with Hera and Sabine playing critter tag. Do I need to go back and watch it again for Inquisitor goodness? Must just be the Disney online stuff

On the disney xd, you can watch the next weeks episode..

I like how the wings fold, or at least it looked like they did.. making a rather cool look for it.

Jaden can you confirm, or I'll just watch it again tonight.

Ya the wings do fold for landing, you will actually see it when they are presenting it during the parade it's in landing mode and then when the inquisitor takes flight in one the wings fold into "attack position" I guess it what you can call it haha.

Ya that's last weeks episode the current one is a 2 parter and shows the new tie adv or rather old one since it's pre new hope haha.

Interesting how they're changing the TIE advanced to run off of letters rather than numbers. Rather than x1, x2, x3 (ending with x7 which is the proto-TIE defender) they're going lettered. v1, (w1?), x1.

Can't comment on the episodes myself because I can't find them in the UK.

Well I just thought it was kinda funny how they introduced it as the new Tie Starfighter, the latest product from Siener Fleet Systems. It made me think that they all waited til the last minute and were like "What do we do? What do we do? Oh I know lets use curved wings!!!! Genius!!!" And thus forth they were signed another large military contract.

All kidding aside the episode was pretty cool and so was the fighter, though I'm looking forward to next week to see if it gets much more screen time since so far it was just leading the other fighters to attack the Ghost.

The funny part is, that's actually what this TIE is. There was concept art for a TIE "Starfighter" a looong time ago. Then they re-used it for this. I like it because it bridges the gap between the ETA-2 and the TIE fighter. It looks like a nice prototype that could have been the mainline Imperial Fighter, but was scrapped in favor of something with less moving parts, thus being cheaper.

Which, while not the case, is always the impression I got. So it's very good to see it in action finally. The design deserved it from the very beginning. It also shares design aspects in common with Darth Maul's ship.

Yes I noticed that it looked similar to darth mauls ship as well. I personally like it better than vaders advanced. Vaders looked to similar to a tie bomber to me, this new design looks much more agile.

Well you're also not wrong. The TIE Bomber and Interceptor were both based off of the TIE/ADV x1. It really was one hell of a prototype.

I'm gonna start a mod on one of my 5 advanced ships to cut angles in the rear part of the wings to show the progression.. it's an idea from some concept art I saw online .. just wondering if I should put the wings on an interceptor body.. lol

Very cool. I suspected seeing some tie advanced love from FFG after seeing the inquisitor piloting one. Hopefully we get a new pilot too.

Pictures or it didn't happen.

Screen caps from rebels showing the advanced?

I really like it.

Also that was a fantastic episode.

despite the marketing blurb in the image above, those actually seem like less efficient solar collectors seeing as how they are only one sided

As opposed to this beautiful machine

Well this tie is pre darth vaders X1, I think they were referencing it to the normal ties.

standard ties still have double sided solar collectors

And the Inquisitor's TIE has more efficient panels than them. More doesn't mean better. (shrug)
