firing arcs play a major role

By Vannar, in Star Wars: Armada

Ok so making all this up since I dont have the game infront of me. But who does. The ships that have the firing arcs going to the corners will be much easier to use and could be much stronger. As an example the VSD forward firing arc looks really strong but the side arcs will be very hard to fire on the same ship. While the gladiator with the arcs going to the corners and not the sides will be able to fire on one ship from two arcs much easier. Looking at the most resent info that would be 3 red and 4 black making it more dice than the VSD, from what I would expect to be a cheaper ship.

Sorry for bad typeing skills using my phone.

This was discussed a couple of weeks back. Yes, it looks like lining up ships to fire over two firing arcs will probably become a major tactic during the game. Conversely, large ships with wide arcs will probably be the easiest targets for doing so against.

I think there is a flip-side to this coin as well. A ship like the Nebulon-B (which has a narrow front and very wide sides) will be able to get you in two arcs relatively easily from the front. However, it will have troule maintaining that front arc when maneuvering starts in earnest, and it also makes it easier for the opposing ship to pummel the Nebulon-B's weak port and starboard shields. If they are in your side arc, your firepower also drops and it is more difficult to restablish double-arc fire.

With the Victory, on the other hand, you may be able to get them back into your fore arc more easily as you "circle" each other due to the wide angle.

It will be interesting to play out on the table!
