New Smuggler Book Announced!

By Lancer999, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm thinking based on the art, Faleen, Gotal, and then maybe jaundice girl on the cover is a human variant or something else.

With the banner ad up now maybe jaundice girl isn't all that yellow. Looked kinda yellow in the article. So maybe human variant, Gotal, and Faleen look pretty likely I'd think.

I would love to see Falleen, Gotal and Devaronian for species.

Unless they can throw Pykes in there.

Would love to see Faleen and Gotal in the book. Also, cover girl (tee hee) might be a Mirialan sans tattoos.

Faleen would be good, not a huge fan of Gotal, human variant is not something I care for much personally, Mirialan reprint is ok if they have to have reprints I spose.

Is the lady on the cover yellow? She looks normal to me, but I'm pretty color blind so I'm a terrible judge. The only near humans I can think of who come in shades of yellow are Mirialan and the Borneck (who are pretty obscure).

I'm holding out for Wroonian. They were a goto species for smugglers in the WEG days, and my favorite smuggler then was Wroonian, so GIMME MY WROONIANS.

Please?

I hope FFG can do something with the Pykes. I mean right now their wookieepedia entry is essentially "Yeah... they are Pykes.... there's like, a syndicate of em... and... ummm.... yeah."

A lot of fun to be had there....

Excellent! This was the first book that I got to be a contributing author for. While my part was small, this is going to be a fantastic resource for any campaign, not just Smugglers. :)

I'm most certainly not colorblind, and she doesn't look at all yellow to me. Perhaps there's some difference in how our various screens are presenting the image?

What? No Jawa love? Who doesn't want to play as a charming and dashing, dual wielding gunslinger jawa?

This must happen, I say!

Mechanics are gonna need a Spec book. I can't think of a better place for a Jawa to be presented.

My photographer gives me flak for this every time photos are done. Screens for artists are usually calibrated differently than a general screen.

That said, I'm assuming she's supposed to be a human.

And here I just assumed that she was supposed to be from the space Philippines or something....

You know, kinda like how Shmi Skywalker comes from a Swedish planet?

Is anyone else excited that we are going to see how to create Syndicates and the like??!!! WHOOOO HOOOOO!!

Now I have to start saving my credits to get a YT-2000 if it is a cool ship, then put an AI into it and call it C.I.T.T. Correllian Industries Two Thousand! And of course put a Turbo Boost that isn't the Full Throttle Talent...And Super Pursuit Mode for my Hyperdrive and Molecular Bonded Shell!

I'm personally excited about the new rules and info section. Particularly for hyperspace. Also the dozen ship mods.

I was going through the old d20 Star Wars "Scum and Villainy" book, checking out the species.

So far, it looks like Falleen and Gotal are new species.

Going off of the species in the old book, they had:

Blood Carvers, Clawdites (would be a great species for the Thief, but they'll probably be in the Bounty Hunters book), Gands (we got them), Jawa (more of a Tech species I'd say), Ryn, Toydarians (we got em), and Ubese (probably more Bounty Hunter'ish).

Really looking forward to "Fly Casual" - my friends and I were sure it was going to be one of the last books, along with the Bounty Hunter book.

The Specializations seem a bit odd to me. Charmer, Gambler, and Gunslinger all feel like more specific versions of the Scoundrel to me. I hope the overlap isn't too much, and I hope they still leave a solid role for the Scoundrel.

Its Gonna be great.. I like everything so far so the anticipation is high on this one

The human woman on the cover is wearing a yellow shirt under her white button up shirt. If you compare her skin to that, it definitely is not yellow skin. Simple human.

Couldnt she be Cathar? Or maybe the eyebrows are misleading me...

I think Falleen and Gotal are a pretty solid bet, which would most likely leave a repeat race as the third. Someone mentioned Sullustans, which I could definitely see.

I'm exited about the new details on heists. I've been wanting to run a heist for a while but haven't felt like I'd be able to do it justice. With the new information here it's definitely going in my game.

Far Horizons had a human on the cover but no variant as a species, so a human variant may not be the case.

Just looking at a species to best represent a gambler, I could easily see Herglic being a good third species.

So a human with darker skin than white, and a raised eyebrow, is confused as being an alien? Sigh.. cue Hooper X from Chasing Amy.

As to a variant human, not likely as far horizons had a human on the cover.

I would support herglic as species. Space whale gamblers are awesome. Especially if they carry around a potted plant.

Rules for running a smuggling ring? Yes, so much yes.
