New Smuggler Book Announced!

By Lancer999, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

As opposed to all of the lizard-y things populating Jabba's palace in RoTJ? Ha. (And don't get me started on the species shown in the Special Edition...)

I actually kinda like the Miraluka.

But, AGAIN, I would just like to see the "major" OT races - Mon Cal, Quarren, Gamorreans, Devaronians, Sullustans, Ithorians, Tuskens, Jawa, etc. - all appear somewhere within the EotE books. As some of us have ZERO desire to buy up every one of these books from the other two core lines.

The prequel "majors" such as the Kel Dor, Cereans, Togruta, and Nautolans would be cool too, I guess.

The prequel races are inthe F&D beta.

No need to "ha"... I never implied my opinion is more valid then anyone else's.

I think there is a big difference between standard tropes such as lizardy aliens or the like and a "they can see through the force" type alien, they just seem 'artificial' to me.

And that helps a EotE GM how?

I have no desire to purchase or play F&D.

Larag is simply stating the several of those species you mentioned have already been given stats.

The lead designers (Sam and Andy both) have cited that they've mapped out well in advance which species are going to be in which books. So it could very well be that a number of the species in the FaD core rulebook won't be seeing print in any EotE sourcebooks. Thus far, only the Duros has crossed over from AoR to an EotE supplement, so there's no assurance that any other species will cross product lines.

Gran has as well, in Far Horizons, so it seems likely that it will happen more, even if not for all of them.

There's not going to br any more career book. FFG announced a merger with Asmodee. FFG will lose the Star Wars license, and it will be re-acquired by wotc. :P

Like how FFG lost the license when Disney bought LucasFilm? <_<

I note there's a smiley on your 'The Sky Is Falling' post this time, Samophlange!

<sarcasm> I'm certain that Asmodee will be jumping for joy if FFG loses the Star Wars license. </sarcasm>

I just see two courses of action. The above or Asmodee leaves them alone and lets FFG make them money as is.

Better to say it out loud and be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Honestly, I don't expect any change.

Even in a worst case take-over we'd probably still get a book or two where the material is almost finished anyway. So we'd probably not get my favourite book (Tech), but apart from that most of the Careers. And so the pain of another wotc-SW-RPG would be limited: I'd have my Star Wars game for the next twenty years.

P.S.: Is there a way to set the spell-checker here to real English? Or am I stuck with break-away-Colonies-English? ;)

Spraug: that's a browser function rather than a FFG site function. I have mine set to Canadian English, so I get to use "u"s without any flak when I do the honourable thing ;)

Taken straight from the press release:

FFG has many important intellectual property licenses. How will these be affected, and will other Asmodee partners and affiliates be able to take advantage of those licenses?

FFG expects to retain all of its licensing relationships, and will work with both Asmodee and its licensors to extend licensing potential to those parts of the Asmodee Group that makes sense for the overall product strategy and the individual license.

Hmm... Maybe we can expect a Star Wars Timeline game?

Thank you. Now I just need to find the appropriate menu.

Any word on the ships for this book? Other than the extremely awesome YT-2000? (Yeah, I used to play X-Wing: Alliance in the day...)

Considering a smuggler's goal in this era is "to avoid any Imperial entanglements," do you think we'll get a customs cruiser, interdictor cruiser, and even a Star Destroyer? *fingers crossed*

Corporate Sector Authority IRD fighters would be great too.

I don't have a shred of confirmation but I wouldn't at all be surprised if the Rendili Light Corvette, Customs Frigate, Guardian and Warden class Light cruisers, or at least some of those models showed up in Fly Casual. There's also a decent chance for the IPV-1 and PB-250 to show up again even though both have already appeared in earlier EOE books. Maybe the IR-3F will show up in it.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Every product gets discontinued eventually, not just the ones you love

I would find it strange if they duplicated material from the product line in a supplement book for said product line, though I guess something being in multiple supplements isn't that much of a stretch. I still don't think it will happen.

Then do the rest of us a favor and stop playing games </sarcasm>

I hope the Barloz-class freighter shows up in this book, or earlier in Lords of Nal Hutta.

What is BH??

Bounty Hunter

And more pilot stuff, and what does the YT-2000 look like anyway?? Will it have the same or more HPs than the 1300??

yt2000.jpg

It's from X-wing Alliance. My guess is it's HP will be in the same ballpark as the 1300. Though it'll be interesting to see what makes it "temperamental" and what the means in game terms.

I'm guessing that part of it will be a low system strain threshold, with possibly rules related to threat or despair causing large strain and maybe something that makes it more difficult to recover system strain. But I am expecting it to have a base speed of 4 with "good" handling or maybe 5 with not so great handling
