New Smuggler Book Announced!

By Lancer999, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Oh an btw. I'm really interested to see some new attachments and mods to starships. That is something really lacking imho.

More mods more mods more mods!

To be honest though the specs seemed a little "meh" to me, but 'm subject to change when i see more of them.

And seeing some more starships is nice, light freighters ftw! And please a few non Correllian ships please.

And for the love of the Force! Please have pictures of all ships! I don't care about some lousy scene-image. I want to know how the ships look because they are hard to get a mental picture from.

I predict we won't see any more repeat races or specializations. I think too many people complained about it. I for one definitely do not see the point.

I am just happy to see Gunslinger!

Wonder how it will be different from the Marshall and how many talents it might share!

My guess (From the limited knowledge of Marshall) is that Marshall is law & Gunslingers are the Clint Eastwood, shoot em' up BANG BANG...PAIN....LOTS OF PAIN!!! Type.

I'd suspect you'd be wrong. The devs have said several times that they plotted out where and when the races would be.

Yeah I doubt they'd be too similar. The Marshall is really more of a social guy who's also ok at combat, whereas Gunslinger most likely is very heavily Ranged (Light) focused.

That's also how I understood it. And they've been pretty good at surprising us, but Sullustan as a repeat sounds rather credible given their affinity for (illicit) trade.

This is my hope. While I liked the Marshall, Gand is more of a shoot first ask questions later type of guy, and before buying anymore Specializations I wanted to see what Gunslinger had to offer.

I think Gunslinger will borrow ideas from Heavy and Enforcer. You'll likely see some kind of talent to ditch the extra Difficulty for two weapon combat. We might see a talent like Walk the Walk in Enforcer except use Cool instead of Streetwise. They might throw in Dynamic Fire from recruit.

As long as Gunslinger has Quick Draw (Since my PC is a Smuggler/Pilot opt.) then I will be happy. Running 2 wpns is brutal in the draw department, and QD would be a nice addition to my arsenal.

And 2P, what else could they do to help 2wpn use? I mean right now I have already proven that it is "Broken" beyond belief with the fact that in your "Primary" weapon you can create a gun w/ all of the Advantages on it (Bantha Eye/Superior) to get enough ADV to have your 2nd gun go off, and then your 2nd weapon can have all of the damage (BAM/Bantha Eye/Superior) and spend the money to try to get +dmg/+pierce so you can do more damage WITHOUT the Black die that BAM gives.

So what else could they do to help 2 wpn fighting??

They also do repeat races in lines as while I am sure most people buy all the books some don't and they don't want to exclude people from playing species if they only buy one set of books. Not sure why peop,e were complaining I haven't seen much repeating.

Here's to hoping the third species is the Devaronians. I'm a bit meh on the Falleen; I'd prefer the developers focus on movie species as much as possible, given the slow rate at which new ones come out. Another interesting option would be the Snivvians; they might fit the "Charmer" specialization, whatever it is.

...

And why would they do that? None of the great gunslingers used two guns, no modern weapon school teaches it (as far as I know) and Han Solo also always got along fine with one gun. The reason for that is that it would be bloody difficult to the point of not being worthwhile. If that's your character's style, live with the drawbacks.

And as far as melee weapons are concerned, that shouldn't be covered in this book, but in the Bounty Hunter book for the Marauder.

Um... Marauder is a specialty of the Hired Gun, not the Bounty Hunter. Perhaps you meant Assassin?

I wouldn't mind seeing Snivvians as a playable character either. Another species I've been hoping for that I think would work with the Smuggler set is the Rybet; if not this time, maybe the Rybet will pop up in the Bounty Hunter sourcebook.

The woman on the front is a human, plain and simple. Suggesting anything is is a stretch at best.

I think you haven't seen a lot of repeating because when the AoR core book came out a third of it was repeated from other books. Then when they came out with the Hired Gun book instead of taking the Saboteur from AoR they made the Demolitionist. I believe they changed that stance. I for one wouldn't want a splat book with repeated info from another book even if there is a special group of rare players that only buy into one of the Core book settings. Personally I think it's a fallacy that any group only chose one section of the game and didn't buy into every portion of the game. This is what FFG wanted .

So what else could they do to help 2 wpn fighting??

Something like Rain of Death does in the Heavy spec, would be my guess, where it removes the added difficulty die when you activate auto-fire. Since auto-fire and two-weapon fighting are mechanically the same, there's no reason there shouldn't be a winding, convoluted road to get the talent to remove the extra purple.

but... but... but... Cade Bane is so cool!!!!!!

Back when I was twelve, I thought running around with two guns was so cool. The whole leaping through the air in slow motion while shooting with two pistols is such a Hollywood trope. It is something that has infiltrated into games, so there must be rules for using two weapons at the same time. No matter how unrealistic it is.

These days I'm like Allan Quatermain in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen when he talks to Tom Sawyer about shooting with two guns.

Allan Quatermain: Now, would you like to learn to shoot?

Tom Sawyer: I can already.

Allan Quatermain: Oh, I saw. Very American. Fire enough bullets and hope to hit the target.

Or this other good line.

Allan Quatermain: If you can't do it with one bullet, don't do it at all.

I asked the art department to confirm the humanity of the character on the front. Mainly because some talk could be construed as it's only human if it is aryan. Yes, that is a stretch, but the worse case scenario.

It's ridiculous to see her as anything but human.

Ahhhm, yes, sorry. I shouldn't post without the books on my lap...

EDIT: NO! What was I writing, I DID mean Marauder!?!?! The book has already appeared and that's where the stuff SHOULD have gone.

Yes, OK, what would SW be without the Hollywood cliches? Yes, we need dual gunning. ;)

Actually this Quatermain quote sounds VERY MUCH like some other advice given by a green teacher (not Kermit) about doing vs trying, or is that just me?

Hey Shoot First, Shoot Often, Shoot Again, and THEN if anything is left standing...Ask Questions!

And Flying through the air w/ 2 Guns Blazing is the John Woo Maneuver and YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!! My PC uses that move w/ 100% Success Rate! But you have to remember to smile at the end and put the Shiny Star "DING" w/ an action pose after you land!

Cad Bane. Jango Fett. That is all.

Reminds me of when we played paintball and one of the guys had a backpack hopper for ammo. I asked him why and he responded, "Accuracy by volume!"

That is literally the philosophy behind the Air Force's use of the minigun.
