Here's a list of my thoughts and suggestions for the MC developers:
More space to write:
Although I like to keep mission descriptions and rules as short as possible, sometimes I run out of space on the one page available for mission text. This becomes a problem for the more complex scenarios. More space would let me be more clear in some cases, and give me space to include examples of special rules, which I think could be very helpful. It also would allow inclusion of more flavor text, which I often have to cut for space.
Linking Missions together to make campaigns, progression:
Many players like to post campaigns, and unless they take deliberate steps to group them as they publish, the missions can sometimes be hard to find and arrange in the correct order.
It would be great if there was a tool to link your missions, like a 'next mission' button that you could add to mission descriptions. Even better for campaigns would be alternate buttons for imperial victory, rebel victory, etc.
Campaign Roster w/ Editing:
Again for campaigns. It would be great to have access to roster tools for missions that we could manipulate. I could see this being a pain in the neck to implement, but it would be very cool.
Organization - categories, better search engine:
I think this is incredibly important. Right now, there are hundreds of missions, but finding an appropriate one to play could be very challenging, even if I know what I am looking for. Missions should be categorized by their authors into different basic types, so that players can find missions without wading through hundreds of scenarios.
FFG features notable missions on home page for MC:
A nice nod by FFG to some of the mission-writers out there would be to feature missions on the Mission Control home page every so often. This would be a great way to show off the work of the writers and put the best foot forward in terms of demonstrating the potential of Mission Control to passersby.
Competition for best scenario:
This is a natural extension of FFG-featured missions. It would be fantastic if FFG ran a small competition for mission-writing. The prize could be as insubstantial as some basic recognition by FFG, say a short article on the home page. If you're feeling particularly generous it could be included in some future release as a scenario. This could spur the development of some high-caliber missions.
Better text editing capability:
The mission text pages are a bit clunky when it comes to basic editing. I can't separate paragraphs by more than one line, for example. We should have more control.
Ability to insert small diagrams in the rules for examples:
Another improvement to the mission text pages could be the ability to include small diagrams. They could perhaps be generated using a page similar to the map page, or cropped down segments of the map page itself. The ability to include small diagrams would be very useful for illustrating new rules concepts.
Show mini diagram of mission map on the mission home page:
This would save time when browsing. Including a mini-map of the scenario that shows up under the mission description when we are browsing the mission list would be a handy feature.
