A hit, sir, a very palpable hit.
...3PO is massively overblown as a contributor to the Falcon's success. Mathematically it's a 5/8 of an evade action.
Your oversimplification of its effect doesn't diminish its efficiency on named Falcons.
Edited by DagobahDaveThe only assumption I make is that you always guess 0. If you do then it's a free 5/8s of an evade: on one shot you swap a defence die for an evade token. Remember that if you use 3PO and then roll an evade he hasn't actually done anything. 3PO is much more psychologically potent than mathematically potent, and the forums have a lot to do with that.
It's good, don't get me wrong. But the power of the Falcon wouldn't plummet without it.

More to the point, the power of the Falcon drops very little if you substitute Chewbacca for Threepio.

I seriously doubt that. At the risk of oversimplifying, Chewbacca seems about equivalent to four uses of Threepio. In a standard tournament round, Threepio is likely to get used about eight times.
Chewbacca can discard a crit and adds an uncrittable hit point. If you discard a Direct Hit he saves you 3 damage, if you discard anything else he saves you 2. If that shield blocks a Direct Hit (unlikely) then he saved 4. If 3PO saves 5/8 of a damage a blast then Chewbacca is equivalent to 3.2 C-3PO activations if he blocks two damage and 4.8 if he discards a Direct Hit.
If 360 Weapons didn't exist, I'd---
Who am I kidding, I use Interceptors to solve all of my problems anyway.
Pretty much this. Take away my phantom, I'll go back to interceptors. I will gladly use my RGPs with hull verse a fat Han any day.
Phantom? Easy: Good piloting. OFC, it's easier to outfly a phantom with certain lists and ships, but I've seen Wes, Wedge and Hobbie beat a Whisper + mini swarm before.
Good piloting with highly maneuverable ships definitely works! The first time I flew against a Phantom list I beat it accordingly and thought, "Meh! They aren't the end all be all!"
One just has to be aware of where they can end up and have ships covering those areas! Since I like high PS ships, it was easy enuf to do.
Luke, VI, R3A2, Engine is my phantom and Han counter.
If Falcons didn't exist, how would you counter Phantoms?
If Swarms didn't exist, how would you counter Falcons?
Phantoms - ionize them!
Falcons - cluster missiles, or all out attack with whatever you have, then go for the remainder.
If bacon didn't exist, how would you counter eggs?

(c'mon, we were all thinking of how to bring bacon/breakfast into this conversation... I just did it first.)
Sausages, beans, mushrooms.
Though I would surely mis the bacon....
