So after acquiring a fairly large lot of ships a few weeks back from a friend who decided the game wasn't for him I finally found someone to have an occasional game with. We met up at our LGS on Sunday and gave it a go. This was my first real game doing 100 points and he has been playing for a while.
I put together a Rebel and Imperial list as I didn't know which side I'd be playing. I ended up being Rebels and this is what I went with. I had read about this being a fairly solid list for early ships.
Chewbacca (42)
Gunner (5)
Recon Specialist (3)
Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Unfortunately when I actually got the store only then did I realize I only had one Advanced Sensors since I only have one Shuttle so I changed one of the Blue Squadron Pilots to Dutch Vander (23), gave him an R2 (1) and gave Chewy Draw Their Fire (1). That way I got to play with three different ships.
My opponent went with the following:
Avenger Squadron Pilot (20)
Avenger Squadron Pilot (20)
Echo (30)
Echo (30)
Honestly I never looked at his ships as I was so busy concentrating on mine and I don't have the Phantom so I didn't realize he used two of the same unique pilot. I could be wrong on this fact but to the best of my knowledge both his Interceptors were PS3 and both his Phantoms were PS6 and he didn't have any other upgrades that I recall so that would be 100 points. He said he had never played the Phantoms before so maybe he didn't pay attention to the actual pilot name.
Anyway, we placed our asteroids which I had never played with before and started the game. I had setup my Y on the left edge, Falcon in the middle and B half way between Falcon and right edge. He setup his Phantoms on my left and his Interceptors on my right. Somehow my first B maneuver headed me right towards asteroid field. He headed his Interceptors toward the same area. The Falcon just went straight as did the Y. His Phantoms headed towards the Falcon.
I won't bore you with all the fine details but basically the entire game I just had the Falcon slowly move forward and eventually turn around and move back along the same line the whole game controlling the middle. It was able to fire on either set of Imperials which hung together until I finally destroyed one of each. My B managed to work it way through the asteroids unscathed. My Y eventually turned toward the middle and just moved forward one most turns keeping the Phantoms in its sights. He managed to get my B down to one hull point but I was slowly wearing down his last two ships. I manged to take out his last Interceptor and he was down to his last Phantom with one hull point which had a critical hit of taking one damage if you run into another ship. The game ended when I unintentionally strategically placed my Y in the path of his Phantom which ran into my Y on his maneuver.
I'm sure the game would have turned out differently if I wasn't rolling hits like crazy for the first half of the game. His dice were also stone cold on both attack and defense most of game except for a stretch where he wore down my B.
I had a lot of fun and we plan on getting together next Sunday and hopefully get in a couple games. I need to work on my maneuvering as I did have some issues running my B into or into the way of the Falcon a couple times.
