I have finally got around to organising an actual game of X-Wing with someone other than my seven year old daughter and I've just realised that means having to put a list together!

I wanted to start off with something fairly straightforward and settled on a couple of Rebel lists (yeah, I now I talked about only playing Imperials but I can't resist all those shields! lol) before finally narrowing it down to:

Chewbacca (42) with Engine Upgrade (4) and Gunner (5)

2 x Blue Squadron (22) with Fire Control System (2)

[99pts]

My only real question is (other than will I get totally annihilated?) would you consider swapping out Gunner or EU for something else? And if so, which one? At the moment I'm toying with adding in Tactician (2) and one of the three point elite pilot skills (either Push the Limit, Outmaneuver, Predator or Marksmanship - the last two are especially a consideration if I cut Gunner). Also as the list is currently only 99pts, is it worth considering either Veteran Instincts (is a Pilot Skill of 7 that much better than a Pilot Skill of 5?) or the Millennium Falcon title for the evades (even though I'm not using C-3PO)?

If your gonna use chewie play defensively and draw the game out a bit that's where your advantage lies, they can't crit you so arc dodge when able and distract the other guy with the escorts.

Depends on the opponent, but it looks alright. If it's your actual first game and the players a regular probably prepare to lose anyways

For Chewbacca + 9, I'd go with R2Dcrew, C3P0, Falcon Title, and an initiative bid.
I do understand that the two crewmen I suggested come from a stupidly-expensive set, though, so I'd also consider:

Swapping out EU for Navigator + Falcon Title
Swapping out EU for Predator + Falcon Title

Try this for a super-tanking Chewie who usually has focus token for both offense and defense and 2-3 evade tokens:
