This was my first Worlds and it was a blast, my knees and legs may tell you a different story.
I ran Farlander with VI and Adv Sensors, Blue Squad, Green with refit and PTL, and Tarn with R7. I had been running Farlander since he came out and worked the rest of the squad around him for the last month. I don't think I flew bad, maybe not great, but I didn't hit a rock and any bumps were planned.
Thursday Flight 1
Match 1 - James P from Indiana? I think it was. He was running dual Falcon, lando/chewy exact load out not for sure. I believe he was fairly new (couple months if I remember right) Flew them together like most would and walked his way around. I had set up loose and wanted all shots on the same ship as much as I could, so brought the green and tarn around wide and fast, the Bs slower to match attack time. I was able to slow down lando for a bit with a bump that chewy jumped over, so lando went down pretty quick. chewy was next and I was down a Blue. Chased him down, Tarn was next to go as R7 just improved his shots when I had to use him. It got really interesting when chewy was getting down in hits, James was pulling some moves I could not keep both ships on him with. While trying to stress Farlander in alot of shots to make them hit hard. He worked on Farlander with most shots with both of use getting our defense we needed. he just would not go down. Finally with time running down on us, Farlander had basically one shot to end him, did just a 1 straight as I figured he would stay close to him to light him up as he was down to 1 hull at this point. SO I rolled back and to the left and did my move putting me about 5millimeters away. it was a very tight fit. unloaded my shot (which had a target lock from other moves) and got him with 3 hits. It was the great game and very fun for the kick off to the day. He said it was the best game he was played so far and when I ran into later he was still loving that first match. I am happy to have won, and happy it was a one shot from winning game, those are the most fun to me as well.
Match 2 -
James from Atlanta. Running 2 bandits, Horn with r2 basic, Farlander PTL I think.
after 3 miscues to match start with FFG (byes were setting up wrong) we never moved so what was nice. I was worried about Horn as he is very nasty. I think he set up in formation. I set up loose again bringing farlander and the other B to the flank and the green really doing a wide flank to pull up behind him. Tarn did his best to take them on head on, and it took a whole round + double tap to take Tarn down, so that was worth the exchange of ship, as I was able to work down Horn and got him before he could make another double tap. Next was getting his Farlander out, which I chased for a bit ,but then turned on the bandits as he was running Farlander away and the shots to the bandits were needed to be taken. I lost Tarn the the Blue again, but that was it. Win 2 for me! another super cool player and good game, no real major dice issues this match.
Match 3 - didnt get their name on my list of info. but another nice dude. 3 bandits and a tank Chewy with c3po. went after chewy and my defense dice took the game off. and his attack dice pounced on it. Nothing I threw at chewy seemed to take him down, and his bandits stayed in way to long due to hot defense/under average shots from me. He flew very well and clean. once he dropped Farlander, I could not keep range one on him with a Green so I called it after a couple moves. It was going to be break for food, and figured better spent time on sitting and eating and relax a bit before the second half of the day. 2-1
Match 4 - believe vs Mr Froggies - 3blues with tactian in shotgun, Y with ion and stress droid. I know I can go head on, so I flank with the Bs and A, leaving Tarn to take the shots to the face. Tarn got 2 shots off before dying. I went after the Y who seemed to be able to dodge a ton of shots at range 3. Got him off before he could really do alot of damage, but then his Bs were getting in the fight more. Worked one down (knowing this was going to be a loss as well as he melted what he wanted to) tried to take on 3 Bs with just a green, he was doing a great job of blocking moves and making me unable to shoot at the B that would have died with just a hull left. I didn't want to face this list at all when I saw it next to me prior. He was playing on saturday so he flew good enough to make top 32. SO I told him, he was #3 behind my local guys that I was cheering for. also told him I hated the list, as its a hammer of a list, but being so basic in "simple" is design, that can work over stuff, its awesome. I respect the list and would have never thought of 3 tacts in Bs. Big Loss 2-2
Match 5
Fat Chewy Tarn(r7) Biggs. Great another falcon....urg. This was Jason, and I think may have been from Atlanta as well. Well now that the day was wore on, I am feeling alright, push for chewy as he set up with a chance to get a good round or 2 before Biggs is a problem, which was right, but was able to dodge a ton of that and maybe lost 4 shields. I can not clearly remember the events, but I know that I got his Tarn and Biggs out without to much back damage and dice were not above or below average, just average. It came down to Chewy vs the Green and I called it right away. He had to much hull to try and pop off. with C3po every round now, its not worth the time to try and get 2 hits here and there. 2-3
Match 6
Was to play vs 4B-Z finally and was actually happy about that, then someone dropped or something and we moved. dual falcons....again.....this time with both at ps7. Vs Rebecca Z from Florida. We were both tired at this point, but me a little less as it was a 10 minute drive for me to get there, and a 23 hour drive for her. She was super nice as all the others were as well, she was flying great until I was able to block her for like 3 moves with my A wing. I kind of knew she would fly them as a unit as most would do to get Lando locks out to chewy. I was able to bring her down to the corner and then rammed the A in there while I took a slow walk in with the rest of the team taking shots at chewy first with 3 and then moving back to lando. Lando took a ton of damage, and chewy got out of there pretty good. She took out Farlander first which she was the first to do so, but my other 3 were pretty healthy and she choose not to shoot Tarn as once she saw the combo she choose to target softer ships. Got my 3-3. and was happy with it.
I took on 6 falcons dropped 4 of them. Figured in just Falcons it was around 70 hit points of damage I dealt not including other ships so over 100 damage dealt.
Had a great time, everyone I played we super cool and nice, and I was happy I didn't play any locals! ( I get to play them all the time)
