I liked my black and red shuttle so much I decided to do a Firespray. I used it as a test-bed for a test of Vallejo's chipping medium. Seems to work pretty well.

Me likey! The red canopy really makes it shine (pun not intended). :)

Love the chipped/worn look. My only quibble would be that I would have preferred to see either a black or amber canopy, not a fan of the red. That is of course a personal preference only, the work is definitely A+. Well done, sir.

That is stunning! Very nice repaint job...

That looks great, I really dig the Bantha skull, that is really a nice touch

A work of art! Very nice looking.

really nice job!

Superb.

I love the red canopy.

It's just like my deviantart OCs!

I'm just joshing you mate, it looks pretty good overall and avoids the pitfals I associate with the colorscheme. Well done.

The texture work is great! Is it all Vallejo? The matt look is brilliant (ironically!).

Texture work meaning the chipping and the final matt coat - those are both Vallejo.

The funny thing about the bantha skull is that I had intended to use a stencil but all of my stencils came up missing so I had to freehand it.

I considered doing amber, but I really wanted to see what a red canopy would look like. I'm pretty happy with the result.

If you don't mind...any tips? Paints, brushes, techniques, ect? The ship is beautiful, can't wait to customize my own Scum.

This was done primarily with Vallejo paints and primers. The only thing that isn't is the canopy which is Minitaire Ghost Tint Magenta and Blood Red over silver.

Oh, the bantha skull is actually Citadel Celestra Grey (which is my favorite not-white color) and another lighter grey.

I used Vallejo Surface Primer Grey, then added the chipping medium, then used Gory Red and Black through the airbrush. Then I went over it with a wet brush to do the chipping.

ignorant non-painter-but-aspiring-to-start person question...how does chipping with a wet brush works?

I'm a fool, just noticed you have a channel. Awesome info, thanks.

Is that livery (paint scheme) from a pilot card or a book?

Killer paint job!

That is not a bantha skull... Go look up Mythosaurs.

Otherwise, I love the paint job. Awesome work.

You missed the part about the chipping medium. You apply that between two layers of paint, then wet the area and work it with a brush. The chipping medium makes the paint chip.

You do commissions lol?

First I've heard of this, it's always been called a bantha skull as far back as the 80s.. with this wiki you linked being a 'Legends' reference, I'm giving it no credit. looks like video game history, and that never impresses me either.. The color picture they show barely resembles the 'Skull' image and they claim the creature to be as big as a city, but the color picture looks to be only about 8 times bigger than a standard human..

It's a Bantha skull.. works for me

Actually was from a comic book from back when, but then again, the bantha thing was speculation and never was referenced in any original movies, so the EU gave the best reference to it. Also funny that you nay say an EU reference when your tag line is from a fan made film. Also the skulls origins have been agreed upon in the legacy era of canon by Lucas himself, hence why the costuming group that adopted it use it as their official icon.

EDIT: on the note of size, I guess we are all born adults aren't we?

I like fan films that are done well.. IMPS is awesome. Like I said, this was the first I heard of it, and I didn't get into the video games as I suck at them horribly.I also read a lot of the X wing series and other Star Was novels back in the 90s and have a great appreciation for the EU stuff. Not sure how I feel about this.. Legacy.. stuff..

Those books you love are now legacy as well. So I don't see the point in picking and choosing the canon based on only what you like.

Honestly the new terms and question of what is canon and not canon anymore is getting ... bothersome..
