Game 1 caught me off guard with my opponent's open. She ran 2 Rookies, 1 Blue B, and 3 Z-95s. I got initiative, set my initial ship, then looked at my opponent set her ships up across her entire side of the board. I opened poorly, lost one of the Bs early, and that was all it took. Great game.
Game 2 was supposed to be against a 3-ship Rebel build with Corran, an X and an A. Since he had already lost 2 games, he got the bye that round, putting me up against the TIE swarm with ST Howlie, 5 Academy Pilots, and 2 naked Scimitars. I lucked out with initiative, deferring to my opponent. Asteroids went my way, and the opening moves couldn't have been any better for me. By the 3rd round of movement, the A and Roark were behind the swarm, and it was game on. I managed to herd most of the swarm to my left side of the board, kind of towards the middle. The 5th Academy was kept out of most of the fight, with a couple of fortuitous ICT shots. Howlie was gone by about the 20-minute mark, as was one of my Bs. A lucky salvo from the remaining B took out an Academy, and I lost nothing beyond the one B.
If you would have told me that my first win would come against a TIE swarm, I would have recommended seeing a mental health professional. ![]()
