Lasers for lining up shots with lasers

By Wilhelm Screamer, in X-Wing

Word of advise. The army painter target laser differs in quality from piece to piece. I have seen 3 so far. One was rather thick, one is fine and the other was both thick and bent! The laser line was actually in an arc. So either buy a couple to be sure :s or look a little further.

Well, for $10 and with limited options in Canada I guess I'll just roll the dice with it. Thanks for the heads up though. I'll check to make sure it's straight when I receive it.

I got one and the line was nearly a quarter inch thick. I've also had quality issues with the Harbor Freight ones.

I settled on a Black and Decker that's a bit bulkier, but a much better line. Sadly, the ones I really want to get are too powerful for import to the US these days.

Too powerful...? Are you trying to melt the models of someone who beats you?

Functional Death Star

Army Painter now do a laser line tool, appropriately called TARGETLOCK: Here you go

I purchased one of those (thanks!) but the line is slightly curved :(

sigidi reported similar luck. I guess I should have ordered a few and went with the best one.

It's not THAT powerful, unfortunately :D

But ever since idiots started thinking it would be funny to point laser pointers at passing airliners, the US has clamped down pretty hard on the strength of lasers available for general use. So "too powerful" really isn't as impressive as it sounds.

Hmm. I was hoping to be able to get one in my hands before Christmas. One for myself, and one for my buddy who plays as well. I've tried looking on Amazon.ca, but can't find a damned thing..

I suppose if you send me a PM, I guess I could go to Harbor Freight, buy a couple and mail them to you?

you can also look for a laser level. that is what the one i use was called. works great. they are a natural fit for this game.

I echo the PM comment. Send me a PM and we can work something out, I can also go to harbor freight and get them. Maybe you have something to trade?
