I noticed in the worlds and some other tourneys that some players were using a laser pointer-type-thing to draw firing arcs.
Anyone happen to know the model? My google-fu has failed me.

Many different types my buddy pickup one up at the home Depot for $5
Only place I've been able to find them in the US is Harbor Freight. There are better, brighter ones in Germany, but they're not permitted in the US.
(This is for the small barrel-laser. There's a bulkier laser-level available pretty much anywhere. It works fine, it just takes up a lot more space.)
Edited by Jeff WilderArmy Painter now do a laser line tool, appropriately called TARGETLOCK: Here you go
Edited by FTS Geckosearching for a GREEN one... a cheap green one...lol but i can see how useful this would be. now it would be really really cool if they could some how make a calibrated one that would show RANGE.. but that would be totally dependent on the height of the laser over the board... also make it with cool starwars sound effects.. lol
LOL you don't ask for much, do you Swedge? ![]()
I got one for my birthday and it's so darn useful. No longer do I have to disturb the ships when checking arcs in a massive parking lot situation. It's also a lot less unruly than the range ruler when checking at range 1. IMO, a laser line tool should be a must have for X-Wing players.

I respect a man who know's what he want's.
hey if your going to dream dream big!!! i actually got some cheap green lasers off ebay but the filters that they came with don't really make a a single line. but green is so much easier to see on a black background... however they are really useful for playing with the cats. Or just shooting a laser beam across the yard because the cool thing about green a green beam is that the beam is actually visible...

You're looking for a "saw laser guide". I got mine at Harbor Freight for about US$6, but they can be found at most tool stores. They are amazing tools, and come in handy in just about any situation. Just be aware that you cannot measure firing arcs during the Activation Phase unless required to by a specific ability (such as R7-T1).
Players may only measure range and/or use the range ruler to determine whether a ship is inside or outside of a firing arc at the following times:
• When a ship becomes the active ship during the combat phase, the active player can measure range from the active ship to any enemy ships before declaring one as its target.
• When a player declares a ship’s ability that requires another ship (or ships) to be at a certain range, the player trying to resolve the ability can measure range from their ship to any valid ships before resolving the ability.
• After declaring the intended target of a target lock action, the active player may measure range to the intended target, and only to the intended target.
While the FAQ specifies "range ruler", any tool that accomplishes the same effect qualifies.

Then I would just flip on my special infrared spectrum sights and project secret Infrared targeting beams that would be mounted to the side of my Predator helmet.. lol

This sounded like an Xzibit thread at first but...
Anyway. I use the one from http://www.tabletop-laser.com
It was probably a bit on the expensive side and I could have gotten a similar one for much less but this was the easiest to find so I went for it. Works great and is very bright even on a black matt surface.

I am in the US, and was looking for this as well. I both went out to Harbor Freight's web site, and physically to one of their stores and could not find such a hand held laser. I tried to search on the web site for "saw laser guide", as well as other derivatives to no success.
The person at the store had no idea what I was talking about.
Any other suggestions?

Well, I can help with the first two parts: a cheap green one.
Something akin to this:
Plus this:
$22 green line projector with a rechargeable battery.
I found a cheaper one but the source doesn't ship outside of the US. I was able to purchase one from an eBay store, but they are not getting their stock for some weeks yet.

I've never heard of a Harbor Freight store and they don't have many near me. Is there an equivelant store in the South East US? Home Depot? Ace Hardware?
I'll also see if my local store can get the Army Painter laser in.
army painter does have a European shop as well. Just need to navigate back to the homepage and than click on the euro flag. They sell them there at a 5 euro something pice, and apparently they are delivered pretty fast. The ones I ordered on Saturday (thanks for the link btw) will be delivered tomorrow

Lardvark ...
Thanks for the link. I called them this time, and they did have it. They are setting it aside for me. I appreciate the info !
I have the Harbor Freight one.
I mounted it on an old radio antenna, with the existing swivel and stand.
Having a line laser is awesome.
Having a line laser that can stand up above your set, and be perfectly still is more awesome.

Unfortunately, having tried this exact product, the laser lens on the pointer cannot be swapped out. There's no way to access it and replace it without destroying it completely. So, sadly, this is NOT a solution.
Anybody have links for one of these that might ship to Canada?? I've been racking my brain trying to find one..

I've ordered this one on eBay for under $10USD, shipped to Canada.

It's a preorder and should ship in January. I pre-ordered Rebel Aces from the same eBay store and they shipped it out pretty quick after it was released.
Hmm. I was hoping to be able to get one in my hands before Christmas. One for myself, and one for my buddy who plays as well. I've tried looking on Amazon.ca, but can't find a damned thing..
