Celebrimbor's Secret Unboxing

By Stokesbook, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Eh. I largely agree with MNT. My favorite type of card is something like Light of Valinor: It was obviously designed for a specific character (Spirit Glorfindel), but it's not limited to him. If Steward of Gondor isn't limited to just Denethor, then why can't we figure out some way for the Mirror to be more versatile? Frodo used it too. Other people used it... but it still needs to be limited in some way obviously. I don't know. I don't mind Galadriel having her ring, but how many cards that are specific to a single hero is too many?

4 would probably be too many ;)

Well, one of the ways they've done it in the past is make a card have an effect if placed on anyone, or almost anyone, but it gets even better when the "right" character has it. Asfaloth and Firefoot are good examples of this type of character specific attachment. Maybe more of this would satisfy both camps, like the Mirror attaching to Spirit hero, or Noldor hero, exhausting to look at top 3-5 cards and top 10 cards if Galadriel. Then again, there's only so much space on a card too.

I'm really impressed when they can design a card that combos with a certain trait but is also a good card if you remove the trait combos. Handmaiden and the first(!) Ent are good examples of this. I'm really excited to start collecting these Ents!

Do you guys think we'll get more Silvan cards in the next pack or is this the finale?

Actuality I never understood before why they didn make location ground matter before. Something like : orks get +1 attack undergound and horse cannot use. Archers should to get bonus on a plain and problems in forest and so on. Now at least something…

Yeah, although I can't say I've been a huge fan of the location specific cards before, they can be fun and useful in some of the Nightmare quests. For example, Ever My Heart Rises and ally Bombur were both pretty **** good against Nightmare Shadow and Flame (keying off of those Underground locations). Although they were ok against the original version of course, you could do just fine without them. Nightmare forces you to look for any edge you can get, even in obscure places.

I'm wondering if they'll release 2 more "big"/"unique" Silvan allies. We got Rumil and Orophin, but then again, we have all 3 brothers now, so are there other unique Silvans that could be good allies for this new deck type? I don't really know. In any case, I would be surprised if the Silvan decks weren't supported in some way in the last pack. Might be something minor and it may not apply specifically to Silvan, but there will probably be something.

With the last cycle we got Theoden which was sort of a lead in to the next cycle. I'm wondering if we'll see some Dunedain card(s).

Well, we already have a 3 cost Spirit ally and plenty of 3 cost Lore Silvans so those spheres didn't need it as much.

As much fun as player cards are the quests are what are actually important. Myneighbortrololo your always so pessimistic and just mean spirited, if you don't have anything nice to say don't clog up the forums with sarcasm.

And that's the worst kind of attitude one can have. "if you don't have anything nice to say". Well, sir, if you don't have anything constructive to say, then don't clog up the forums with nonsense.

I would happily have some more Lead

I think that there will be at least 1 silvan card.

Would happily have more... Especially a defensive ally, No use hoping for a Hero... Be great to see Thranduil as an hero some time.... Or even an ally with more than 1 shield :)

Also... ents look quite interesting... Totally okay if they Include more ents.

Maybe I kind of hope not. More Silvan, Rohan and a couple of ents works better for me :)

I hope that the last unspoiled spirit card of the cycle is an unique Spirit silvan ally. Because right now we have 1 big silvan ally for each sphere (Lore - Haldir, Tactics- Rumil, Leadershit - Orophin), except for spirit.

Honestly, it would be a pain to redesign your deck each and every time you move to a quest with different location types. I'd rather it remains in the player's choice whether he plays a thematic deck or not (for example, no eagles in the mines of moria).

No I dont mean you must redesign your deck everytime. Just some additional bonuses or penalties trough the game. How it was in middle earth ccg and lotr tcg

Just a heads up, CS is available on eBay!

I hope so too, but we do have Lorien Guide. Granted, he/she is not unique, so it's still entirely possible. Time will tell. :)

Did anyone else look at the title of this thread and think of dirty movies/books? If you treat "Secret" as an adjective to Unboxing...

"Galadriel gazes into her mirror and watches Celebrimbor in the back of the room. He seductively takes off his Cloak of Lorien. Oh, Galadriel's Handmaidens are waiting outside? Invite them in! I'm sure they'd love to join in... the Secret Unboxing.

Afterwards Galadriel suspects Celebrimbor must be the Heir to Mardil because he is ready for another unboxing."

Lorien Guide is sorta weak on only fit for one thing, while those unique silvans of each sphere are strong and excel at both attacking, questing and even defending (haldir). Lore cards of the last pack are not spoiled too, so we can get both Spirit and Lore silvan uniques who work with Silvan synergy going around.

I'm not sure about that, but I can't shake the feeling that Celebrimbor's Secret is where Elves go to shop for lingerie.

Strange, I've never got a thought of Celebrimbor's Secret being something dirty. And I'm pretty twisted person.

By the way, hero in last Antlered Crown will deffinitely be leadership. In this cycle we have seen 2 spirit heroes (idraen, galadriel), 2 loore heroes (haldir, grima), 2 tactics heroes (eomer and that ranger, I forgot his name) but only one leadership hero (Celeborn).

I dont have any concrete hopes for who this hero should be, but I cant wait for him.

Wow, that idea is totally new!

Clearly I have been listening to too much Cardboard of the Rings.
