My first go at a Scum Squad

This is pretty much the idea I've had in my head since Scum was announced and I realised I could combine ICTs with Firesprays to keep people out of my blindspot:

Veteran Instincts, Recon Specialist

7 Dace Bonearm

Ion Cannon Turret

7 Kavil

Ion Cannon Turret

​The plan is simple - the turrets fly either side of the Firespray. We pick a target and control its position so the Firespray can always shoot it. Dace would shoot before Kavil since Kavil has a better chance to hit, so if Dace misses he can still use his ability on Kavil's shot, if he's in range. Alternatively, the ICT ships could also act as blockers if the pilots were downgraded.

I went with the high PS Y-Wing and HWK because I wouldn't have had enough points for a third anyway, but I'm open to downgrading them to generics and spending the points on upgrades, if anyone can think of a better option.

It's possible I'd be able to afford 3 generic HWKs (we don't know yet, unless I've missed something?) instead of these two guys, but to be honest I hate the HWK's dial, I'm only taking Dace because when you want to field an ICT not taking him seems like madness! However, he needs a way of shedding stress doesn't he, so should I downgrade the Y-Wing to get him an upgrade? What would help with that that a Scum pilot can take? Kavil's ability isn't that great, in that it won't increase the damage output, but it will help to Ionize cloaked Phantoms, for example, so he's not that easy to dismiss.

Not sure about VI on Fett, Opportunist might be better, what do people think? Recon Spec. on Scum Fett seems like an auto-include for me.

Looks interesting, at least. Have you/Are you going to try proxying it?

I am thinking I should downgrade something so I can give Boba Fett Outmaneuver though, just seems that that would work so well - he'd have rerolls on his attack and all his defence, focus on attack and on one defense, AND he'd reduce the target's agility on his attack.

Need to shave off two points. What do you think - downgrade the Y-Wing?

I'd probably go for Dace first, as he'll be (comparatively) easy to focus down. Boba's the hardest target, I'd be going for him second. Kavil is less of a threat with an ion than if he had a blaster turret, imo.

I tried Dace last week with VI, with the initiative he was able to kill Whisper in two shots. Not sure I'm sold on Kavil's ability on any of the turrets yet, (though have yet to fly him) so I'd go with either Pablo or Tortilla as their abilities are particularly nasty.

As for Boba, hoping to try him with Engine and Outmanoeuvre this week sometime. The Engine is so he can insure R1 or to arc dodge so either/both his ability or Outmanoeuvre kick in.

Aye, Dace would be fairly easy to take down, would make sense to start him in the safest position...

Kavil would be awful in the end game if you only had one ship left! I've not used Blaster Turrets much. I agree he's quite scary with one of them, but he needs something to modify his rolls in that case.

As for Boba, hoping to try him with Engine and Outmanoeuvre this week sometime. The Engine is so he can insure R1 or to arc dodge so either/both his ability or Outmanoeuvre kick in.

Aye, that makes sense. I was thinking that, unintuitively, HLC might be good on Boba. That way you have an advantage at Range 3, in case people try to keep their distance. Ha, you could put a tactician in as well, just to make every range deadly! Although, like I said, taking Boba Without Recon. Spec. seems crazy!

Probably Dace. Extra Ion damage is annoying and he's most likely a sitting duck

Anyone else see themselves playing Scum a lot for a while after it comes out?

I had a thought this morning, Dace would pair great with a buddy who has an Ion torpedo. Give him his Ion Turret so he can get use of his ability, but give his buddy an Ion torpedo. You can target the torpedo at the most likely to be hit by it, and then cause the auto damage on the priority target, destroy a ship with 1 hull without wasting the torp, or cause an extra damage on the ship who took the torpedo damage. Just a thought.

I dunno scum boba want's to get stuck in it might be 7 points that get's used twice all game.

It might get fired twice all game, but it's used every time your opponent rethinks his actions because of it! Or, if you don't take it, you might find yourself in a position where you would have used it quite often, since people try to avoid range 1 of you a lot more. Or it might be a waste of 7 points, true.
