Proximity Turret

Imagine a new bomb slot item - Proximity Turret. Has only 1 attack die, and only 1 hull point, only shoots at range 1-2, (Not modifiable at range 1).

Could something like this work in X-Wing? If so what should it cost? I think with only 1 die, it isn't likely to hit, and isn't likely to do much damage even if it does. I think something like this could be very cool.

Interesting idea - Not sure what you mean by not modifiable at range 1, do you mean range bonus? I think a range bonus wouldn't be too OP, the defender still gets to defend against it (otherwise it would never have more than a 50% chance of hitting). You would just need to work out when it fires - start of combat? End of combat? Would be effective against low agility ships - Even if it was destroyed before it hit anything it would at least rob an enemy ship of their attack. Maybe 4/5 points depending on other factors. Requires an action to drop like the proxy mine?

I have rules for Turbo Lasers that are similar.

Yeah I meant Range Bonus. I figure the idea is it has a low chance of hitting, can easily be destroyed, but would have 2 key advantages. 1) It could cause multiple damage if ignored for an extended period of time, and 2) It would force your opponents to waste an attack to destroy it.

I would give it maybe 2 hull. Or One Hull 1 shield

Also 1 agility. Not that it's doging per se, but it's small so it's hard to hit.

I think 1 hull is fine. It should be very easy to destroy, but to do so would take away an attack or an action that causes damage.

PS 0 1/1/1/0 It will attack the closest enemy ship during the combat phase. At range 1 it can change one Focus result to a hit result? I would make it 5 points.

I think more bombs is a good idea.

Me? I'm not generally fond of add more turrets...

Take away from the Dog Fighting aspect and seriously changes several ships.

Many think that Fat Han and soon Dash are already hurting the game. Now a squad of TIE bombers.

Oh, you're not talking about add turrets to ships but one you could drop off.
