Most Wanted - Rebel cards?

By mazz0, in X-Wing

Mostly the problem is my OCD, it just irritates me knowing I've got more models than I can use in one squad!

Whereas my OCD would be irritated as all get out if rebel or imperial stuff came in my Scum & Villainy pack.

And mazz0, don't take it personally. You have been quite reasoned and clear in this thread. If it feels like people are jumping up and down on you, it's just because they are really jumping up and down on all the other people who weren't so rational about the subject and have been accusing FFG of GW style behavior and price gouging.

yeah, I guess it's just a philosophical difference. I see it as a totally different faction - fluff it out however you need. They've chop shopp'd those ships to use different fuel, so the Rebs wouldn't use them anyway etc...

:)

Maybe the issue will be solved by new rules that let you mix in Scum with the highest bidder for their services

Heh, I was actually gonna say, "I'm not saying they're like GW or anything!" :P

Speaking of, what colour are Scum pew pews?

purple would be cool

Well, at least it's not about dials this time.

There's absolutely nothing new about this. I own 9 - yes, NINE - Interceptors. Am I ever going to be able to fly those all at once? Pretty unlikely. Honestly, I had as many as I was ever likely to fly at 3. Yet here comes Imperial Aces. Couldn't FFG have put those cards in the Defender for me? At the very least the upgrades, right? I mean, I was going to buy that anyway, why give me more Interceptors I don't want?

Is Most Wanted as perfectly consumer-friendly as it could be? No. If it were going to be perfectly consumer friendly we'd have a $10 pack with no minis in it, because I've already got all the Y-wings and Z-95s I'd need for either faction. What I think is being missed here is just how good a deal Most Wanted actually is. Yes, you're getting "stuck" with a few Scum-only models that don't give you what you need to fly them Rebel, whether you complain about that due to dials or cards. But what are you getting? A $5 discount on the three models, that includes total conversion for two other ships. That's a freaking awesome deal.

I'm solidly on record as not always appreciating how FFG packages things - there's no doubt in my mind they use card availability to motivate model purchase, and that's not always consumer-friendly. But THIS? Really?

I demand a fluff explanation, Mr Jackson!

....ok.......perhaps Scum uses a contraband form of tibana that is mined from the planet Hurikane :P

You don't see me complaining about getting more than my preferred 3 A-wings when I pick up Rebel Aces. Early adopters will be screwed a bit as FFG revisits older ships, as most of the time, it will come with a repaint.

But you haven't ended up with more A-Wings than you can, theoretically, use in one game (playing one side).

It was only a little complaint, I'm not having a massive rant!

Imperial Aces has that problem. I bought two copies of Imperial Aces when I started playing and then bought an Interceptor expansion for Turr and Fel. I have 5 Interceptors but can only field 4 of them at once unless I buy another 4 Interceptor expansions.

I'm not sure how that follows. I've got two interceptor expansions and three copies of Imperial Aces. I've got enough models, stands, and dials to field eight interceptors (assuming point cost is no object).

How is that? x2 Royal Guard, x1 Avenger, x1 Sabre, plus around six named.

To field all of my Interceptors in a 100 point game I need 4 more Alpha Squad cards.

Most Wanted comes with Scum ships only.

Apart from you using the Firespray, HWK and Y-wing models from previous expansions, there is no interconvertability in the ships.

To simply it, what you are buying is two Scum Z-95s, two Scum Y-wings, one Scum HWK and one Scum Firespray.

You get nothing for the Rebels or Imperials because it's a Scum expansion.

mazz0, do you play other miniature games?

I had a thought, and wonder how many of us who play other games have a very different perspective on these things.

The issue seems to be that people feel that because they own the model, they should be able to use it regardless of the faction. A Y-Wing is a Y-Wing, is a Y-Wing...

But for me, I think of it as a S&V Y-Wing vs a Rebel Y-Wing. Faction matters. But I was also a 40k player, and still have stuff for Flames of War, and Warmachine.

The reason I bring this up, is because in 40k, I wouldn't really consider using my Blood Raven Space Marines as a Ultramarines list or Black Templars list and those are even from the same codex. I mean I might proxy them in once or twice. But if I wanted to play a Smurf list, I'd buy more models and paint them blue.

Wow is that sentence going to be interpreted wrong by non-40K players.

I have no idea what you mean...

-_-

In all fairness, at least one of the Smurfs is female. The same can't be said of the Ultramarines.

I think the MW pack is going to be awesome value for money. Probably the best pack yet. I collect both factions at the moment and adding a third is just adding even more flavour and flexibility to the game. I already have a Y-wing, a Firespray and a HWK, and by buying one MW pack I will have the capability to field an S&V squad with six different ships to choose from. Most of the cards are "Scum only", but there's at least 6-7 multi-faction upgrades in there as well.

The ability to be able to utilise models I already have is absolutely great. I hope they do another similar deal later on. It helps keep those of us that are on a limited budget in the game.

Echoing Parravon - currently, as primarily an Imperial player and not owning a HWK, the MW pack has pushed me over to thinking that I should pick up a HWK (or two) and MW

IN fact, should probably get the HWks now because MW will make for a shortage I bet :)

I'd do it now, once MW comes out I think you might find the HWK's to be scarce. But I'd only pick up as many HWK's as you're going to have MW boxes.

Ha! ninj'd - I just went in an edited my comment to say the same

I'm just wondering how fast slave 1s are going to sell out again once we FINALLY get them back in stock.

Just ordered a 2nd HWK this week, have a feeling it'll stay in it's packaging until I decide I actually want to run 2 in a list but I basically ordered it as soon as I finished reading the last MW preview.

I just realized that we don't know how much of anything is actually coming in the box. Everything that hasn't been specifically announced is coming from the photo of the Most Wanted stuff spread out. There are definitely things in the box that are not pictured. There is only a single Z-95 pilot base while there are 6 pilot cards in the picture. There's a similar thing going on with the pilots for the Y-Wing. For all we know there might be more dials than what are shown.

The ships each have a base bringing the total up to three bases for each.
